Default Onions, Shallots and leeks... oh my!

This question posted also to another ng...

I was wondering what the difference is between the three. Of course they
look different... but what are the big differences, small differences
between the three...

what can you tell me about them?

I recently had a recipe that called for all three of them and a few with 2
of them. Wondered what the nuances of these items are?

Thank you!
