I'm glad that you posted that because we are going on a short road
trip, and we really need to get an air change on our tires beforehand.

I always have the summer air in by mid May. Many placers tough using
nitrogen in tires. I use a special blend of 78% nitrogen and a mix of
other gasses.

Sure does. I have a little compressor in the garage. It was originally
an air compressor but I had it modified to make the nitrogen blend.

Me too, that shit is expensive. It costs me 75 cents at the gas station. Sometimes I have to pay $1.50 - if I'm not fast enough.

Free? I have not seen free air for at least a decade. When they started
charging it was a quarter, but then it magically jumped to $1 and that
seems to be standard. I picked up a good 12v/AC pump on sale last year.
It works great. I also have a manual bicycle pump.

Grin, I have one that pumps magical mix and operates off my car outlet
(the one lighters used to be in). Haven't used a gas station pump in
3-4 years now. Also manual bike pumps here. Only bike left is
Charlotte's adult 3 wheel with back shopping basket. Guess it's mine
now since it would be cheaper to get a new one than ship the old one to
California.

Why on earth do you need to change the air in your tires before a trip.
It is always a good idea to check your air pressure and inflate tires to
the recommended pressure.

Something to thing about.... and maybe I should patent this idea. Air
leaks over time. Rubber is a pretty good sealant but the gas molecules
still manage to seep through the material, so the pressure eventually
drops. The reason for inflating tires with nitrogen is that the
molecules are larger and less likely to work their way through the those
tiny gaps.

Now..... If there is truth to that and you pump regular air into the
tires, and the other gases leak out, the gas left in the tires should
have a higher percentage of nitrogen. Nitrogen makes up 78% of our
atmosphere. Every time you add air you are loading air that it mostly
nitrogen into an already nitrogen enriched vessel. Eventually, it is
going to be almost 100% nitrogen.

Personally, I figure that the simple practice of checking tire pressure
and keeping them at the proper inflation will give you the same
performance and mileage benefits that you might expect from nitrogen,
but without the hassle and expense of having to fill them with nitogen.

You probably don't buy dirty electricity from a coal fired plant
though.

Noticed how you repeat the same response every day to about 100 posts.
You must be some miserable retired person with absolutely no life. Why
not respond with opinions rather than the same pasted response?

*YOU* are the oddest person in this group.
