People appreciate not having to start up the gas engine with its vibration and noise and balkiness. Most people love EVs the first time they drive it. There's also the efficiency of EVs. Instead of using electricity to refine gasoline from crude oil and transporting it to your town in tankers, and pumping it into your car, you can just bypass all that and use the power to charge up a battery. For the equivalent cost of the gas, you can travel 2 or 3 times as far on electricity. That's an energy savings on several different levels.
