Every business I have ever ordered food from has sent me an email
today. Such good deals for Super Bowl Sundy!
However, for the first time in forever I have a meal planned for
Sunday.
Green Rice (white rice pilaf cooked in chicken broth with garlic and
onion, finished with chopped parsley and scallions (should be chives
but mine are still in winter sleep)
Sauteed cod
Broccoli
Margaritas
No dessert

Last night I saw a local news report where the reporter called several
take out restaurants, like Subway, pizzerias etc and asked for
recommendations for food for parties of 25. The were full of suggestions
and none even mentioned the current lockdown. We are supposed to stay
home except for essential business, no indoor gatherings, only people
who live in your house should be there.

We are having grilled beef tenderloin steaks, air fried potato chips,
green beans, tossed salad with blue cheese dressing, and then apple
crisp for dessert.

The foodie emails have been fast and furious all week long.

We ate early today.

Home made chicken "tenders," cut from skinless & boneless chicken
breast, dredged in flour and quickly pan-fried in an olive oil/butter
mix.

Sweet potatoes

Slicked cukes, with an old fave, and one of the few commercial
dressings I ever get- Catalina

We ate so early because I assume we'll want to snack later during game
time. Probably will only pay attention to the commercials, anyway.
We'll have dessert then, too.

We did have fresh chives mixed in with cream cheese for out scrambled
eggs at breakfast. I saw some fresh chives just a few days ago among
those planted herbs the produce department usually has. I just had a
hankering for chives and considering we got 28" of snow early this
week and another 5" today, I knew it would be awhile until the kitchen
garden on the deck was popping up. I cannot even discern the huge
planting tubs out there, there is so much snow.

I do have rosemary, parsley, thyme, bay, and oregano growing in pots
in the kitchen all winter. First time I've added in chives. We'll see
how they do.

I haven't seen chives in a pot this year. If I had that much snow I
would be buying greenery too. The nursery that I go to uses one of
their glass houses for a winter park for customers. They put down sod
and line the house with all their huge plants. Several days/hours are
devoted to yoga. It's pleasant in there. Some of us pick up
sandwiches at Subway or such and sit a the picnic tables for an hour
or so. Of course, plant are available for sale. Good marketing

We've an arboretum about 5 minutes from the house and though all their
programs are shut down because of Covid, the grounds are open and
we've enjoyed the walks there. I assume there are folks of cross
country skis this week.

I cannot complain about the snow this years as it has been so many
years since we've had anything like this.

I got bored with shoveling (so did a few muscles in my back), so I
took out one of the cars and went joy riding on a few back roads this
afternoon. Nothing too exotic, the plows had gotten through at least
once before I did. I stopped at the store and got Lipton Onion dip for
fun, though. Store was empty. Lots of staff, no customers.

I'll have to take your word for it. I always check the "don't market to me"

Last week, I winged a recipe. Cooked some egg noodles then drained. In
same pot put about 1 TBS olive oil and a tsp of butter and sauteed one
smashed and minced garlic clove. Then I dumped the pasta back in with
some parmesan cheese and stirred it all up. Very tasty. Just enough for
2 servings. Next time I might add a half cup of chicken broth thickened
with cornstarch just to add a creamy sauce with it.

Your dinner sounds good. I just had a few good tuna sandwiches during
the game. No chips but it was still good eats. Dessert was 2 fig newton
cookies.

You asked once about using chicken thighs instead of wings for Buffalo
chicken. Did you ever try it?

Also, did you watch the game? Not many people here care about american
football. Nice to see that the *new* Brady Bunch (Tampa Bay) won by a
large margin. New England Patriots should have kept him and they would
have been there.

Commercials weren't all that. Only one I liked enough to mention was the
self driving car commercial (Cadillac) with Edward Scissorhands.

"Probably will only pay attention to the commercials, anyway."
This always cracks me up each year.

Think about it. People hate commercials and have no interest in
football, yet every February these same people make special food for the
game they don't like. They even turn that into a party. Then they sit in
front of the TV for 4 hours just to watch the commercials.

Too funny.

We started to watch the game but went elsewhere when it was obivously
one sided. Didn't watch half time, ate dinner instead. I wanted
Mahome to win, Brady has plenty of rings. Never got around to trying
chick thighs for 'hot wings.' There were a couple of commercials that
made me chuckle but can't remember them. Oh, except the Gwen Stephani
one. That was cute.

I like empty grocery stores. That's why I always shop as early as I can.
Last Thursday, I went late (for me) about 11:30 am and the parking lot
was filled with cars. I didn't even look for a space, I left.

I plan to go back this Wednesday, almost 3 weeks since I've been there
so I do have a long list of things to buy this time.

Oh, I thought you meant the shelves.

Don't wait until it's urgent. Now you might have to buy things that
aren't on special.

I noticed in the TV listings the night before (or maybe it was on game
day, I don't recall) there was a show featuring the most popular
commercials that ran during the Superbowl in the last 20 years. No, I
didn't watch it. Don't ask me why anyone would want to watch an
hour-long program of old commercial - interrupted by commercials. LOL
If you really want to see them, they're on Youtube.

I almost feel badly that I now PVR a lot of shows. I can record
programs that are airing at weird hours, that conflict with other good
shows, or I can record something on the satellite while watching a show
on Netflix. That gives me a wide range of good shows to watch at my
leisure. Better than that, I can skip through commercials, and there are
often a lot of commercials.
