Rotting. They go from green to yellow to past-their-prime brown.

Fermenting! Once picked pineapple doesn't ripen, it immediately
begins to ferment/rot. Where you live the closest to field ripened
pineapple is canned. Same for melon. Many fruits are too delicate to
ship ripened. I can't grow pineapple here but I can grow melons and I
do, the difference between stupermarket cantaloupes/honedews and vine
ripened from our garden is like night and day. Since we've been
growing our own we no longer are able to eat stupidmarket melons....
they are as tasty as firewood.

I was just wondering why a pic of the closed donut box?
Might have been nice to open the box so we could see the donuts.

Anticipation! :-)

And today, there is ONE donut left! Problem is, if I put it out of it's misery, I have to throw out the donut box too

Great idea!

No sane person is going to keep the freakin' box for one freakin'
donut unless they want to attract vermin.
Normal folk would put the last lonely donuts in a zip loc or wrap it
in Saran... but who thinks Kootchie is normal let alone human?

Because it's obvious in other, visible ways other than color alone.
