Default Garlic Butter Shrimp Pasta

My wife and I tried this for lunch today. It was our first time trying to
cook shrimp. The apartment still reeks of garlic, but we don't exactly.
The only modifications we did was that we used whole-wheat rotini instead
of fettuccine because that's what we had on hand and we used probably
double the cheese. The only problem with this dish is the amount of
butter which isn't exactly healthy. Also, the cooking times were actually
a bit longer than what the recipe calls for.

Anyway, it was delicious and my wife said that it was "like eating in a
restaurant". I take that as high praise.

I often do something similar, but I usually use good olive oil and add a
pinch of dried hot chili flakes. I start off with the garlic and pepper
flakes and when the garlic is only partially cooked I add the shrimp. It
takes on much more flavour that way.

My recipe has olive oil and butter , garlic , onions (green preferably)
and some white wine and chicken broth thickened slightly with flour .
Shrimps are added last so they don't overcook . Makes a nice sauce , we
serve it over pasta topped with parm .
