One of the books I want to read has a waiting list of over 800 on about
100 copies. Another has over 400 waiting on 40 copies. When interest
flags, they'll send most of them to a re-seller for cents on the dollar.

Of course not. I've been homeless since shortly after you arrived
here. I tore my house down and am still trying to source a
gluten-free builder to build me a gluten-free house from 100%
certified gluten-free materials inside a big gluten-free bubble on
top of gluten-free dirt using gluten-free labor. The old house had
microscopic gluten particles in it.

Didn't you hear? Somebody killed Jesus and Gluten is The Devil.

Then you'd know you're the only self-diagnosed, non-celiac gluten
intolerant person in the world that thinks he needs to avoid
microscopic gluten and any possibility of cross-contamination(*).
Compounded by the fact that you're so anti-religious that you're
even worse than a bible thumper, all while not believing in
evolution m adaptation, and natural selection either.

(*) That is reserved exclusively for the most severe cases of celiac
disease, and for which there are several tests to confirm such a
condition. Did you ever ask a doctor for an IQ test? Because that
would come back "negative", too.

https://www.verywellhealth.com/celia...doscopy-562701

And there's over 1,000 more references to this test on the Web.

Can we get a round of applause for this monumentally ignorant
asshole?

Perfect example of "recycling", graham! I buy many used books online, many have library imprints...some from Canada...

I did not know that Calgary had such a robust public library system, nice to know...

When I visited Prague in the late 70's (I was there both times for some weeks), I visited the lovely reading room/library in the Canadian Embassy, in those days when you were "behind the Iron Curtain" normal news from the West was thin on the ground, so I'd visit the reading rooms of the UK, US and Canadian Embasssies to catch up...

Presently, there are two here that are trying to overtake her and win that title
from her. But I think she's still in the lead position and her title is safe.

It doesn't work if you immediately add "J/K". You should say it, wait
until she gets really worked up and _then_ say "J/K".

I gift the grands with How-To books, At four years old I got one
grandson a book about fishing, he becams so enamored that now at 15
has a large collection of books about fishing and fish and owns quite
a collection of fishing gear. Each year at summer camp he's the
fishing marshal.

I can see it. If the person you want to give the book to does not have
a reader or computer, you print it for them.

LOL Or you could just give them a paper copy of the book.

The joke was not in the printer, the joke was regifting an ebook......
YOU CAN NOT REGIFT AN EBOOK...

Hence the printer

I am assuming you know what regifting is....

Default Tolken (WAS: My method of cooking and why I doit..................)

E-books are not for me. I would be unspeakably disappointed if I couldn't read an actual printed-on-paper
book, and there is nothing like the smell of a brand new book. ;-))

Our library is too difficult for me to get to...too far away from handicapped spaces...so I buy all the dozens
of books I read every year. I buy some from alibris.com, always choosing hard copies rated very good or
new, and new ones from a retailer which has an online site. When I am finished, I donate them to a small
town library near me (their budgets are pretty small), and if they can't use them, they sell them in their
de-accessed book area which gives them some money to add to their budgets. Sometimes I donate them
to a charity thrift shop. And sometimes, if my budget is a little low, I sell them to a used book store in my
city. I don't get much...about $2/book for brand new best sellers...but it helps when my monthly expenses
need some help. (I generally spend about $150-200 a month on books and new DVDs.). I have only sold them
once in the past year.

I would love to donate my videotapes, along with a player or two, but nobody wants them.

Â* I've been getting ready for my 2nd annual Mother's Day Plant Sale .
Actually the couple of days before The Big Day , I sell potted plants at
like a local farmer's market or parking lot somewhere . Starvation wages
, considering all the time involved , but I just can't bring myself to
toss the trimmings . So I pot them ! Right now there are over 80 potted
plants here , not counting seedlings for the garden . I expect to sell
60 or more of those in May .

I've been told that you can make more money selling 80 pot plants. You
might even get rich in May. I can't remember where I heard that.
