Made a last minute run to Costco.

Pre-game food: Whole combo pizza from the snack bar ($9.99)

Half-time: Perdue Savory Herb and Roasted Garlic wings. Phillips
crab cake balls (80% crab).

Munchies: Jalapeno and garlic stuffed olives, Jalapeno Fritos Scoops
with hummus, white chocolate and hazelnut toffee.

Did any puppies get carried off the field on stretchers earlier? So
far the game sucks. And haven't seen a single commercial in its
entirety yet.

All from Costco, BTW.

And looking at my receipt, it looks like I got 13.79 worth of
Italian Sausage for free. On top of the $20 in gift cards I'd won,
that was pretty worthwhile trip.

No commercials grabbed me, halftime unremarkable. But the day
started with brunch and I might have gotten my money's worth this
year. During the game we had hot wings, homemade pita chips and
guacamole from Costco. I'd have prefered to make the guac but
I was overruled. Oh, well, the food was good.

I tried not to get sucked into watching the commercials, but there was
an interesting beer commercial with a Medieval jousting setting that
segued into a promo for Game of Thrones.

There was lots of good defense in the game, so not a lot of spectular
running and passing.

We slow cooked some pork for pulled pork sandwichs on ciabatta rolls...
with coleslaw. ;-)
Delicious.

I think you N. Americans are all just pretending to be interested in
this running around with a sheep's head, so that you have a "sport"
too. We, Europeans, see right through that.

Oh, that was tonight? I did hear something about a super game.

Lobster ravioli (store bought) and a salad for dinner. Made chocolate
chip cookies this afternoon. Watched a couple of recorded shows on the
TV.

Finally got around to wall mounting the TV yesterday. Looks good and
raised up to 53" to the center of the screen it is actually easier to
see from the recliner. Recommended height is 61 for the size but I did
not want it that high.

Very lame attempt at a troll and you are no longer a European.
They deported you. Most likely because you were just as annoying
there as you are here.

I think I missed that one, later in the game I started cleaning up.
Maybe that's when it was on.

I like a defensive struggle but I felt bad that the Rams didn't have
the one guy who seemed to spark their offense. It could have gone
either way. Also, that one guy for the Partiots was uncoverable.
Emerson? Got to give him his due.

Sounds good. I didn't have that much as I ate a bit much at brunch.
Not a huge amount like people describe at buffets but I did eat
more than I ususally do.

nancy, that "uncoverable" player was named MVP....name was Julian Edelman. I thought the
game was really disappointing in many respects. I love a high-scoring offensive meet, and this
definitely wasn't that!

I agree with you. Game was fairly boring until the last 7
minutes. It sure picked up at the very end though.

Oh, though I wasn't rooting for his team I thought if they win, he
deserves it. Now you know I left the room sometime in the 4th quarter,
I missed the end.

I love a passing game with a lot of scoring. It's a lot more exciting,
but I can appreciate a war in the trenches, too. Years ago I would
watch the Chargers because they'd air out the ball the whole game.

Interesting Bruce. You have said here that you don't watch any
sports -not even Australian soccer/football (whatever the hell
you call it). I've watched a few games of that late at night
which would be afternoon and live there.

If she quit watching at the end, she missed all the good parts.
This is exactly what I was talking about earlier...so many people
do watch the Super Duper Bowl only because it's such a big media
event. They never or rarely watch football games during the
regular season, they just want to join in on this one big (so
very media hyped) day. It's just a party for probably half the
USA.

I thought the best commercial was for the NFL...40 greatest football players all
playing a game during a banquet, and wrecking it.

It was fun to see all the old timers, you're right, that was a good
commercial. The one in the beginning went on for a long time, I
thought, the one with Peyton.

That's the only commercial I saw most of. They were playing
keepaway. The only person I recognized was Franco Harris of the
Immaculate Reception.

They are never good, imo. However, the one saving feature I
thought this year was how they crammed so many different things
into it. We had the regular band play a song or two then the lead
guy played some very lame "show off" lead guitar thing. Then some
rapper showed up on the other side of the M stage and even got
sensored a couple of times. They they featured the
sleevless-uniform drum corp. They did a fairly decent thing. And
then that Fat somebody black fellow in the fur coat lol doing
his stuff. And inbetween, the main band coming back. One song
that I recognized (old song but I guess it was his) that he sang
while the lighted drones formed words in the air. Then ended up
with his shirt off acting like a male dancer on womens night at
some bar. uggg (Please don't do that). Even when he took his
last shirt off, the "wife beater sleeveless undershirt" to reveal
all of his nifty body tattoos, I said to myself, "put your shirt
back on, idiot." It was an annoying show as usual but at least
was pretty diverse.

In pregame, I thought Gladys Knight did a good job with the
National Anthem.

Those two young girls that sang/ruined "America the Beautiful"
first though....oh crap...did they ever ruin that nice song. They
knew all the words but evidently barely looked at the musical
score. Typical young pop singers trying to "fix" a song with all
the extra notes. And sure enough, the very last note that ends on
one long note, they warbled through the entire scale 2-3 times
before they finally shut the hell up. heheh

Want to hear my favorite version of that song?
Google 'Ray Charles' 'America the Beautiful'
Fuggin' Ray really nailed that one.

snip
half time show is meant for more important things like going to the
bathroom, getting another beer, getting more food, let the dog out,
check the BBQ.
They should just play the ditty "let's go to the lobby" and be done
with it.

Like it or not, the number of vegetarians and vegans is becoming a

I didn't watch any of the super bowl last night but did see this morning where
all the commercials are airing and the Hyundai commercial has some vegans panties in a wad. I watched it and thought it quite funny; not being a vegan of course
I would think it's funny. I hope Hyundai doesn't cow down to all those
squirrels and apologize.

Default Superbowl Food Consumption

Being from New England, I had to watch the game. Hubby always watches the Patriots. I kept complaining that they weren't showing any Clydesdales commercials, I live walking distance to the Budweiser Clydesdales training farm. All of a sudden, there they were, those beautiful creatures, and the Pats finally scored a touchdown. Somewhat boring game till the end. We really didn't eat anything during the game.
