I had popcorn with milk and sugar on it this am and it was pretty good, it did get kinda soggy tho. I think home made kettle corn wouldn't get soggy, In the past popcorn was often eaten that way.

My mom liked to put it in a tall glass, cover it with milk and eat it with a spoon. My uncle who lived in KS and IA said that popcorn was a common snack and whatever was leftover was saved to eat as cereal the next morning. |

I do like good caramel corn once in a while, but the only way I like popcorn is pan popped in oil and salted. I will put butter on it once in a while but prefer it without. |

Used to be a popcorn shop at the mall here that had blocks of caramel corn on a stick then dipped in more caramel. They were to die for but not something they always had. In fact, they rarely had them and they always sold out right away. Here is a discussion of popcorn as cereal. http://message.snopes.com/showthread.php?t=31175 Here's another link with similar information and additional interesting popcorn stuff. https://food52.com/blog/14753-why-ho...-for-breakfast |

Weekly? We had it every day. And I do mean every day unless we were too sick to eat it. |

The only part of Cracker Jacks I liked was the peanuts. I make my own caramel corn with Spanish peanuts in it. It does not last long. So yummy! When I was a kid, we got boxes of candy with toys inside. The candy was dreadful. I think it was some kind of taffy wrapped in waxed paper. My mom liked the candy. The prize was usually a very tiny, clear glass marble. Usually green but I did get a couple of blue ones. Once in a while I'd get a ring. This may have been something local to Wichita. There was nothing like that here. We did get Japanese rice paper candy that came with a prize. I remember people laughing at us because my dad thought the rice paper needed to be peeled off. He was not convinced that it was edible so he told the guy laughing at him to eat one and then he sat there stunned when the guy ate the whole thing. The prizes used to be good. But in this country they feared that kids would try to eat the prize. Which is why now they are usually just silly paper things. I also remember choosing my cereal based on the prize. I went without breakfast quite often because I couldn't bring myself to eat the Honeycomb. I just wanted the prizes. |

I like that idea. Give out Chinese rock sugar. That would probably be alarming to the parents - maybe they'd think it was crack. |
