When loading or reloading Thunderbird into your computer, the default setting on the program when replying to posts on newsgroups is to the poster, not the group. This sets the stage for much embarrassment. Well that's the way it was. Is it still that way? I don't know since I quit using the program years age. It was pretty good for it's time but times change. |

Follow Up... to a post in a news group it does show a list of the groups to which the reply is being sent. If it is a concern to you, then you simply have to check the list of news groups. I confess to having missed that in the past, and I have learned that posts tend to get really stupid when they are cross posted to multiple groups. There is a way to filter cross posted material and I have found that it works on a lot of the cross posted stuff but not all of it. You may need to configure your options for replies, like removing "reply", which is for email and leave the Follow Up option |
