There is no warning that I know of, but when you reply... Follow Up...
to a post in a news group it does show a list of the groups to which the
reply is being sent. If it is a concern to you, then you simply have to
check the list of news groups. I confess to having missed that in the
past, and I have learned that posts tend to get really stupid when they
are cross posted to multiple groups. There is a way to filter cross
posted material and I have found that it works on a lot of the cross
posted stuff but not all of it.

You may need to configure your options for replies, like removing
"reply", which is for email and leave the Follow Up option
