More pictures of empty Walmart shelves. It gets worse every time
I'm there, and I gave up taking pictures after the first half of the
store.

It's very bad business in the retail world to have empty shelves,
especially in a grocery store where much of your profits come from
slotting fees charged to the manufacturers. Walmart is getting paid
by the manufacturers for these premium spots in the freezers, yet
they're not even stocking the products that are supposed to be in
those slots. They have some severe ordering, distribution, and
merchandising issues. I bet half that missing stuff is sitting in
their walk-in's, they just don't want to pay anybody to put them on
the shelves.

Severe lack of all but the basic produce, empty endcaps, ice cream
that's more ice on th ouside of the container than ice cream inside,
and that dolly thing has been in that same aisle for *4 days* now
and hasn't moved. (And yes, some gratuitous reflections of Sqwertz
in his baggy gang-banger Patriot-wear - suck it).

This all goes back to the manager of the store how much he monitors and
demands out of his department managers.

My food center has been like that too. I am to the point that when I go
there I am mainly just looking for bargains. They keep switching what they
sell. One day the entire section where the frozen potato products should be
was totally empty. A recent trip had about half of the frozen stuff empty.
This is why I had to go back to shopping online with them and thankfully
they have dropped their prices.

My microwave recently broke. I went to the regular Walmart to get one.
Although they did have the one I wanted, it was on a pallet and buried under
other stuff. There was one on the aisle where they should be but the box was
so badly damaged, I didn't want to chance it. They had oodles of the
Mainstay brand which got horrible online reviews and not much on the shelf
beyond the display models. Nothing seemed to be in the right place and there
were no identifiable numbers on the SEMs so you couldn't tell which price
went with which microwave as most of them appeared not to be in the right
places. Thankfully I had looked online before I went there because I forgot
my phone so had no way of looking anything up.

The other thing I noticed is that they had no fresh produce whatever. No
bagged salad. No bananas. No potatoes. Nothing. Maybe people don't go here
for those things. I don't know.

Not necessarily. When I worked at K Mart, our computer system was constantly
messed up. No matter how many times we did inventory and changed the
numbers, they would revert back to the wrong numbers. By that point in time,
everything was supposed to be ordered automatically. We were just supposed
to check and make sure that the numbers were correct in the system. They
never were. It was frustrating because there was nothing we could do about
it. This led us to constantly be out of some things and overstocked on
others.

When I first started there, we had notebooks with paper pages. Inventory was
kept by using notations with a pencil. Goods were ordered over the phone as
needed, with the exception of the things that came from our warehouses.
Those came automatically.

By the time I quit, the only things that could be ordered by phone were live
plants. Everything else came from our warehouses and it was a total SNAFU.

Sure, but the store manager is monitored somehow too. If performance is
poor, he'd be gone. Corporate must be aware at some level.

I've been in many WalMart stores in many states but none have ever
looked pathetic like that.

In our store they have bananas in the produce section as well as a
couple of racks near the checkout. They have both loose and bagged
potatoes as well as some specialty. It is well stocked as you would
expect a store to be. Can't imagine why some are so bad.

Oh - as for the chips, it's ALL Frito Lay. There's also a very
poorly stocked Walmart brand (which are just co-branded Frito-Lay
products) but most of those slots are empty. The Frito Lay
distributors stock the chip aisle which is why this there's always
plenty of stock on these products.

But if you want anything other than Frito Lay chips you're ass out
and have to go to another store

My local Walmart is like that. Many empty shelves not just in
food section. The employees really don't seem to care about
customers either. The department managers are never to be found.
They don't care.

After many visits, I tried the next nearest Walmart and very
efficient. What a difference that one was. I'll go the extra
miles from now on. Better yet, I'll just go to Target (only 2
blocks away) and get better products.

Case in point: I always keep a supply of cheap white washcloths
here for many uses. They're very cheap ones too. Basically 12
cloths for $3.99 or so. Both are 100% cotton but....

Walmart ones are very rough and scratchy. Not good at all.
Target ones are much softer and just what I want.

I think we should put *YOUR* strange ass into a detention camp.

released....if ever.

Perhaps it's the fact many WWs only are planned fer five yrs.

The tax laws (fer WW) are a 5 yr plan. WW get's tax breaks fer 5 yrs,
each a little less than the yr before. WW retaliates by closing the
first store and opening yet another ww.

They were trying to do that in Livermore CA, about the time I left.
They were gonna close the original WW and open a new "super" WW about 2
miles away (w/ new improved tax plan).

It's the reason many new towns are now voting against WW.

my Walmart and those around me do not look like that. No. The
Walmarts located here just aren't like that. Sometimes in the hot
Spring the plants in the garden center look pretty wilted. And you
can notice when they are shifting over from the Christmas season
trees, bulbs, etc., to fertilizers, pots and seeds, BBQ grills and
charcoal.

So people drive to the neighboring town with their taxes being used there.

Â* Hey asshole , my wife works at Walmart - as do quite a few people I
know , and while we/they ain't rich , almost all of them/us are white .
And the store they work at looks nothing like that pathetic place
Squirts posted the photos of . FWIW , my wife said their store looks
like that - for a day or two before/after a "major weather event" . And
another thing , if that really IS a Walmart , corporate would have that
manager gone in a heartbeat for that level of mismanagement . If there's
no product to sell , there's no profit . And if there's one thing WM
watches like a hawk it's profit .

Mine, too. I don't think I've ever been in a grocery store, no matter the

Not like that, no. Mine is occasionally out of one or two things
that I want, especially when they're on sale.

I suspect that they monitor my buying habits and deliberately run out
of things when they know I'll need them. They're in cahoots with the
guy from the gas station who reports when my tank is getting empty so they
know to raise the prices before I come to gas up.

Hey asshole , my wife works at Walmart - as do quite a few people I
know , and while we/they ain't rich , almost all of them/us are
white . And the store they work at looks nothing like that pathetic
place Squirts posted the photos of . FWIW , my wife said their store
looks like that - for a day or two before/after a "major weather
event" . And another thing , if that really IS a Walmart , corporate
would have that manager gone in a heartbeat for that level of
mismanagement . If there's no product to sell , there's no profit .
And if there's one thing WM watches like a hawk it's profit .

==

That makes a lot of sense. No company would stay in business unless
they did that!

==

That doesn't make a lot of sense. A not-for-profit company would
manage without profits!

One thing that does irritate me is when I look online and they show that
they have the item I want in stock, but it's not when I get there. I've had
that happen a few times.

I retired from there prior to the bankruptcy. And your point is?

Good Lord Julie...you do exaggerate. I suppose there is a general alert as soon as you enter the store.
Then they empty out the produce section and hide anything remotely fresh and then mix up the sale tags.
No bagged salads??? Who needs them!!! Make your own salads...fresher and have the things you want.

???? Please, elaborate. I do not understand what you are trying to convey.

The town closest to me has no WW (7 mi). The town 3X that distance has
a WW.

I always buy where it's cheaper. IOW, I buy gas out of the town with
the WW (which I frequent about every two wks). So, if WW is paying a
reduced tax rate and I'm buying gasoline out of the town with the WW,
how are my taxes helping the town with the WW store? 8|

What I was trying to convey is that our town fought the Walmart for years,
there is a Walmart in a different town that is 7 miles away, there is a
Walmart in a different county that is 9 miles away, the people in our town
shopped there, so those towns benefitted from the city sales tax, not our
town.

I know very little. SSDI is good for those younger, but they don't get
all that much. I know one person the get $500 a month. You should be
able to apply or at least get infromation at ssa.gov

Not age 70, To my understanding, it's whatever the "full retirement age"
for your cohort is. https://www.ssa.gov/planners/retire/ageincrease.html
SSDI Brings you to fulls Social Security, Including Medicare.
Unles you can work eventually. https://www.ssa.gov/disability/

There is SSI which is different.
https://www.ssa.gov/ssi/

It is possible to appeal.

Since you're already retired and receiving SSI, I doubt you would be
considered for SSDI at this point. Check with the SS office. From what
I understand, if you don't apply immediately after being deemed disabled
and have not worked full time for three consecutive years, you won't
qualify. But again, check with the SS office.

I recently mentioned the [fairly new] Super WalMart on Lady's Island.
It was quite insufficient when it came to the grocery section. When I
posted about it some folks wanted to blame it on Hurricane Florence. I
suspect it's just a poorly managed store since I was told by other
customers "It's always like this." I didn't take pictures since I don't
carry a camera with me. But there was very little in the way of meats,
dairy, not much produce. Very little in the freezer sections other than
dessert type items like frozen pies and cakes.

So yes, I'm sure it does depend on the store management. Walmart has
gotten entirely too big for it's britches.

And no, I have NO interest in buying food from them (or anyone else) online.

"retired from K-mart" is gross over-statement. More like "the last
place you worked" and "the only real job you ever had" (about 5
years?). You simply "stopped working". "Retired" implies a
substantial and productive work history.

Maybe you should consult the SSA or fill out the online application
rather than soliciting random people on the Internet. Or you can
skip all those pesky formalities and jump straight to your "appeal"
