And >it comes in a foil brick, not a box of four sticks. > >Doris Here salted is in a blue box, unsalted is in a yellow box... however both are in a large font, as large as the one that says BUTTER. Sometimes I don't remember which color is which so still I read which one and I only buy UNsalted. I can always add salt but I can't remove salt. And for buttered bread I much prefer to add a wee bit of kosher salt, the larger crystals offer an explosion of saltiness without ingesting a large quantity of salt... salted butter, depending on brand, contains about one tablespoon of salt per pound, which I think is excessive... when I salt buttered bread I sprinkle each slice with a tiny pinch of kosher salt yet it tastes saltier than using salted butter. Years ago before refrigeration butter and other dairy was salted as a preservative to lengthen shelf life, cottage cheese, buttermilk, pot cheese, farmer cheese, and most aged cheeses contained a lot of salt or it wouldn't keep more than a week. With the advent of refrigeration dairies lowered the salt content but still in many dairy products it's much higher than is healthful. A while ago my wife bought salted butter and I really didn't enjoy it like I do unsalted butter with my light sprinkle of kosher salt. Think of a pretzel made with salted dough compared to a pretzel with surface salt that one can rub off to their taste. With salted butter one is stuck with saline dairy, yik. I find buttered toast with a smidge of kosher salt sprinkled much, MUCH nicer. Another thing is that if you like more heavily buttered food with salted butter you are ingesting far more salt than is necessary... it's much better to salt at table. I never buy salted butter also because unsalted butter that doesn't sell prior to the expiration date is reprocessed and sold as salted butter. When you buy salted butter it's old reprocessed butter, hasn't nearly the flavor of fresh sweet butter... of course those afflicted with chronic TIAD will never know. Anyone who buys salted butter most definately has their taste buds in their rectum. |

I use salted butter whenever I make candy which I'd say is sweet. IIRC my grandmothers recipe for date-nut-coconut candy did not specify unsalted. Neither does my recipe for peanut brittle (it does call for *raw unsalted* Spanish peanuts). No cookie recipe I, my mother or my grandmother's made specified unsalted butter. Ditto bread. There isn't enough salt in salted butter to worry about. Jill |

Progressive bifocals tend to cut out correction in the periphery. I also wear them when paddling and bicycling. I like to be able to catch things off to the side without having to turn my head. Besides, there is something about transition lenses I don't like. |

I have no doubt that the numbers are the same on US tomatoes, seems to be international, and you will note that they are ridiculously small. They could be bigger without making the sticker itself bigger. They are the same stickers they put on all sorts of produce, at the bottom of the little oval sticker it will say perhaps 3780 and that's the number needed at self checkout to make sure it is being weighed as a field or hothouse tomato etc. |

I have issues with the small print on a number of products. CDs have small print on multi coloured backgrounds. They seem to make vinyl LP record sized sleeves and shrink them down to 1/8th size for the CD version and a lot of people cannot read them even with glasses. The worst has to be the labels and instructions on medication tubes. For a while I was using an eye ointment. The tube was quite small so the instructions had to be done in a font size so tiny I could not read it except in very bright light and with a magnifying glass. |
