Seriously, who gets all worked up about Chinese buffet style
restaurants? Don't like the idea? Don't go there. I can't even find
one in my area so I can't comment about how good or bad they are. But
this is a specious troll claim. It has no merit. People aren't
"crawling to the buffet", ill with indigestion just to eat more food.
The very idea is ridiculous.

I don't think that we can deny that some people overdo it at Chinese
buffets. I remember the big niece being excited about plans to stop at
the Mandarin all you can eat buffet after visiting us (and not being
invited to eat here). I have seen that woman at buffets and pot luck
dinners. Buffet means two plates stacked high and several more trips to
resupply. Most people do not. The trick is to try a little of a number
of items, and maybe to go back for something that was especially good.

I don't deny some people over-eat at any buffet. I question the
statement "crawling to the buffet to eat even more" if someone is ill
with indigestion. That doesn't make any sense. He's conjuring up the
idea of a vomitoriam. Eat until you puke, then go eat some more.

I like the big niece tales but she's not representative of the
population of anywhere. She clearly has an eating disorder.

Yes, but that is his style. He likes to conjure images to get a reaction.

Sorry, but I don't have anything to tell about the visit from her back
in July. She and her husband were coming to a wine tasting event to a
winery a few miles from her. They wanted to meet us for dinner or to
come here. No way. It didn't happen because I told my wife in no
uncertain terms that she was not coming here and I was not ever going to
be in a restaurant with her again. Luckily, there was a club paddle
scheduled for the day and it made for a good excuse.... even though I
did not go on it.

However... I did have to see her at a family wedding this weekend. Her
brother was getting married and it was at her father's yacht club, which
is accessible by launch from the mainland. Not a heck of a lot to tell
because I passed the word that we did not want to be seated a the same
table as her, and I stayed as far from her as possible (away from the
bar and the food). The only encounters with her were in the launch to
and from. When it was time to leave we headed for the launch about 5
minutes before the ETD. She was on the porch by the bar and had ordered
a pot of tea. It seems that she could not walk the 5 minutes from the
wedding venue to the launch without stopping to feed the machine.

It was pretty windy and the launch was rocking. I was on board and well
away from the ramp. I didn't want to have to over a hand and try to save
her if she lost her balance.

Two people talking about me and misrepresenting what I said. And I
can't correct them because they both have me killfiled. Typical RFC

I am quite sure I am in some killfiles Do I care? Nope)

But, if they say something about me, I will retaliate! Can they see it?
Who cares? If someone responds they might, but I still don't care)

Correct things if you need to. The rest of us will see it and take note)

Yup, I find them funny to in a sad sort of way.

My problem is that I can't stuff my face with enough food at a buffet to justify a $29 to $65 entry fee. I have seen FOB Chinese guys with huge plates of food at all-you-can- eat joints. I don't know how they do it. They tend to be really skinny middle aged people. I've even seen old Chinese ladies doing this too. It's highly amusing and wondrous!

The Mandarin is $27 (Cdn) As seniors, we get 20% off. That is not much
more than most decent places charge for an entree, and I can get
appetizers, entrees and dessert.

There are other Chinese all you can eat buffets with lower prices, but
with much less variety and much lower quality food, and much if it deep
fired. That is were all the really big people go. They seem to like the
idea of unlimited food cheap.

Unlimited cheap food sounds like a good idea - unless it's Chinese food!

We did take-out from The Gold Coin, for $28 got plenty for two dinners
and still a quart of pork fly lice left over.

You are not alone. I can't eat large amounts at one time either so it would
be a waste for me too.
