If you care to cross the threshold at Walmart I *think* they are available year round there as well. (I know some folks here would rather starve to death than shop at Wally World but I thought I throw out that suggestion as well.) |

I >often shop there but ASDA doesn't sell pearl onions (fresh or frozen) You shop at a capitalist atrocity? Do you at least sing authentic English folk songs while you do it? And does the checkout chick join in? |

I've seen them in the fresh vegetable section at my Kroger but scoring them, then a quick blanch to peel them holds no appeal to me. I just opt for the ready to use frozen ones. |

I can find them "fresh" here in SC. I could also find them back in west TN. In small bags. White or yellow. Great in stews and with beef roast. Great taste but they were fished out of the stew. Adds a lot. I'm sorry you can't seem to find them in Scotland. I'm sure you've found ways to substitute something similar. I'm thinking shallots? Both are something I should look for the next time I'm at the grocery store. They last a long time in the vegetable bin. ![]() Jill |

I admit though that I only keep a bag or two in the freezer compared to broccoli and vegetable soup mix, etc. |

Adds a lot. I know. I'd take them fresh, frozen, white, yellow, just gimme the goddam pearl onions, Trump. If America wasn't hogging world supplies of PO, there'd be enough left over for Scotland. > I'm sorry you can't seem to find them in Scotland. I actually have a hard time finding shallots at my local grocery store. I suppose I should blame that on shoppers in the UK and Scotland. ![]() Jill |
