Red Beans & Rice:

Today I still had a hankering for beef so I browned a couple of chopped
round patties, then slow cooked them in the oven (covered the baking
dish with foil for about 40 minutes) in beef gravy:

Thanks! Easy and tasty. I used that old tupperware hamburger press my
mother gave me to form the patties.

Now I have more leftover mashed potatoes. Oh dear, should I make potato
pancakes (yes, it calls for an egg) again? Should I call them potato
croquettes? Hmmmmm.

I've only had red beans & rice once and it was knock-
your-socks-off delicious. That being said about 2 weeks
ago I bought a can of "Margaret Holmes" red beans & rice.
How disappointing, utterly disappointing when about 3 days
prior I had eaten her brand of seasoned field peas & snaps
and they were 'lick the plate clean' good.

Looks mighty good 'cept for those green beans. I just don't
care for french green beans. But if you were to sit that
plate down in front of me I'd dig in without hesitation.

I've never seen canned red beans & rice. Margaret Holmes brand of other
canned beans, sure.

I'm sure you would eat them because you're polite. I don't like most
canned green beans unless they're the french cut type. Even then, I
only eat them a couple of times a year.

I got that can at Walmart and they had several other varieties of her
seasoned vegetables.

For the record, I never once even considered sleeping with you. And
you know that. You're the one who somehow got the idea that I was
going to move in with you - and you posted that to RFC just out of the
total blue.

After having met you twice at casual austin.food gatherings 2 or 3
years ago and not giving you any indication that there was any sort of
romantic interest in the least, you somehow twisted that into MY
MOVING IN WITH YOU?

That was just way too Psycho for me. I sat there at stared at the
screen for at least 15 minutes wondering, WTF? That was just way too
spooky. I've met weird, semi-psycho women before but you win, hands
down. Mapi of austin.general still holds the male title, but at least
he announced his psychosis right there lying on the floor of the bar
at B.D. Reilly's rather than romantically obsessing over me for 2
years.

Needless to say, you need to come to terms with what happened and why
your mind works that way and stop making up excuses for your fixation
and disappointment before we become the next Yoli and Michael. I'd
prefer you use a sniper rifle on me from a few hundred yards away.
There you go - a reason for you to buy yet another gun and ammo.

And Jeremy, I was just tired of your decade of bullshit and visions of
grandeur about all these things you're "working on" or have not done
in the past. Even posting a call for meetings with imaginary people
about imaginary projects of yours at "the normal time and place", as
if you are somebody important with a life. I'm pretty sure you're
manic depressive mixed with habitual liar.

Sorry I don't fit either of your Ideal Psycho Pal Profiles.

True enough. Besides, if I'd done it on the stovetop I'd have had to
keep an eye on it, perhaps stir it. The electric burners on this old
stove aren't always consistent. Put it in the oven, all I have to do is
set the timer and go do other things for a while.

Nope, it's electric. I've only ever had one gas stove in an apartment
back around 1984. That homemade "Hungry Man" dinner was delicious!

I prefer to make my own from scratch. Where do you think they got the
idea for those frozen dinners?

Besides, this way I know exactly what ingredients are in it.

So every oven in SC vent outside? I think Jill needs to answer that

Are there special models of ovens for sale in South Carolina. Every
(electric) stove I have ever owned or used has come with a vent through
a stove burner.

I'm not sure what you mean but he's talking venting outside. I'm having
trouble picturing a vent in a burner?

There is a vent from the oven that exhausts through one of burner bases.
When your oven is operating you can feel the heat coming up through it.
Pots left on those burners will heat up.

Only ones i know of are a hood anove them that you turn on. If you
don't turn it on, no exterior venting going on.
