Your subject line indicates 200 pounds of cherries.

No I think he means 'how many per lb' like shrimp are sold.

That's not how cherries are sold and that's not what he meant. 1 pound
of cherries is about 80 cherries.

Um, 200 cherries weigh a lot more than a pound.

Richard Cory Went Home Last Night and Put a Bullet Through His Head

This has to be one of the saddest and most inexplicable local stories of
recent memory: Yoli and Michael Amr, founders of Gumbos, Yolis
Jambalaya and Mama Roux, are now dead in an apparent murder-suicide.

This is a profound shame, as in each of their incarnations, they had the
best Cajun food I ever tasted (and this is from someone whos eaten at
K-Pauls in New Orleans).

I have trouble believing it was money troubles, since Mama Roux was
always packed when we went there. Maybe there were health issues.

Im at a loss. Sometimes people, even successful and apparently happy
people, do inexplicable things.

For the record, I never once even considered sleeping with you. And
you know that. You're the one who somehow got the idea that I was
going to move in with you - and you posted that to RFC just out of the
total blue.

After having met you twice at casual austin.food gatherings 2 or 3
years ago and not giving you any indication that there was any sort of
romantic interest in the least, you somehow twisted that into MY
MOVING IN WITH YOU?

That was just way too Psycho for me. I sat there at stared at the
screen for at least 15 minutes wondering, WTF? That was just way too
spooky. I've met weird, semi-psycho women before but you win, hands
down. Mapi of austin.general still holds the male title, but at least
he announced his psychosis right there lying on the floor of the bar
at B.D. Reilly's rather than romantically obsessing over me for 2
years.

Needless to say, you need to come to terms with what happened and why
your mind works that way and stop making up excuses for your fixation
and disappointment before we become the next Yoli and Michael. I'd
prefer you use a sniper rifle on me from a few hundred yards away.
There you go - a reason for you to buy yet another gun and ammo.

And Jeremy, I was just tired of your decade of bullshit and visions of
grandeur about all these things you're "working on" or have not done
in the past. Even posting a call for meetings with imaginary people
about imaginary projects of yours at "the normal time and place", as
if you are somebody important with a life. I'm pretty sure you're
manic depressive mixed with habitual liar.

Sorry I don't fit either of your Ideal Psycho Pal Profiles.

Interesting I haven't see that. But anyway, if he thinks he has 200

Anybody with half a brain would know that's not 200lbs of fruit. What is disturbing is that it looks like considerable less than 200 cherries - 126 to my eyes.

I took the challenge and guesstimated that he is probably pretty close.
It sure as heck is not 500 cherries or 500 # (pounds).

No one minds really. It's similar but not the same as shrimp 'i.e' a
size sort of measure. # can also mean 'count'.

I haven't come across that 'shrimp count' thing here. Our bigger ones are

I'll admit it's a little cognitively dissonant to buy a package of
"jumbo shrimp".

We have two systems (although one isn't very systematic) of shrimp
size nomenclatu

Number of shrimp per pound
Vague identifiers such as small, medium, large, jumbo, colossal.

Serious cooks try to buy their shrimp by "number per pound".

The term prawn is occasionally used for the largest specimens,
although usually on menus.

We use the word "shrimp" to refer to a particular class of
crustaceans; the defining feature appears to be that their legs
aren't strong enough to walk on.

Lobster have stronger legs. Generally, "lobster" unmodified
refers to Homarus americanus. I have eaten a fair number of
"African Rock Lobster" tails and "langostinos" as well.

Freshwater lobsters are generally called crayfish, crawfish, or
crawdads.

Freshwater lobsters are generally called crayfish, crawfish, or
crawdads.

Interesting stuff! Thanks Cindy))

All very complicated though) I think I will just stick to tiny shrimp

Here in the USA, at least in my area, shrimp size is labeled by
number of shrimp in a pound. Buy 21-30 count shrimp and that
means an average of 21-30 shrimp in a pound. Buy 31-40 count and
that's 31-40 shrimp in a pound.

For eating plain, I prefer the 31-40 or the 41-50. Nice
bite-sized. Also, the smaller the shrimp, the more taste they
have. The large ones are more bland but work well to butterfly
and sautee in garlic, etc.

Those larger ones we would call prawns.

That's pretty good. I have a mild to moderate flat hearing loss. It's worse than some and better than others in my age group. I also have tinnitus. It's no fun but it could be worse.

Your super hearing probably means your ear hardware and brain processing is in tip top shape. My brain is deteriorating somewhat. That's the breaks.
