Yes it is! I think I'll make some bread. Watching the dough rise is
infinitely more interesting than watching US football!

Anything is infinitely more interesting than watching rock-apes chase
balls around a patch of grass.

Gee whiz, that sounds like european football/soccer just as much
as the USA football.

LOL! Typical RFC non-Usains dissing most things USA.

I like watching US football. Soccer is boring to me but I'll admit,
I've never watched an entire game of it. I'll say this though, of all
sports people, soccer players are probably in the best physical shape.
Those kids are constantly running all up and down the field the entire
game.

I was invited to a SuperBowl party today but I politely declined. In
the past I've been to 2 of those and once to a sports bar. Fail on all
3. Most people there don't seem to give a crap about football. It's
just a party event. End of every single play is filled with hooting
and hollering by the drunken ones.

I do like to watch the game so I'll just cook a decent meal, nothing
special, and enjoy the game in peace at home.

You really are a moron Gary. Naturally, you think my comment is some
sort of slight on the good 'ol USA (cue vision of waving flag and
screaming eagle). It seems anything and everything said by an
non-American is an attack on the U.S, according to you.

I don't like *any* ball sports... I don't give a flying **** what
nation they are played in. I never specified 'your' precious football
or grid-iron, or whatever it is you call it over there.

NB: I can appreciate playing those games, but watching *other* people
play them baffles me <shrug>. I'd just as soon watch somebody else mow
their lawn.

We have a nice looking neighbour who has had a variety of men mowing her

I don't understand the fascination so many people have with watching
other people playing a game and how the rabidly root for their <?> team,
as if they have anything to do with the outcome. It interesting to see
that so many of the fans consider themselves to be sports enthusiasts
because the are spectators, especially when so many of them are too bad
to bend over and tie up their shoes.

At least North Americans tend to make a big party of the major
play-offs. In other parts of the world the soccer fans just get shit
faced drunk and start rioting.

Yes, and who exactly are in their 'team' anyway? Guns for hire,
basically, with no true loyalty to the team itself... few if any come
from the local area the 'team' is supposed to be based from. To me
it's just all about money, all the way down the line.

Yeah, I do like the part about having a get together with great food,
like Carol is doing.

Yes, it's all a very odd phenomenon to me.

Then there's the small matter of the sportsmen/athletes themselves,
most of the top ones appear to be complete sociopaths. But then,
that's what seems to give them their winning edge to begin with.

Indeed. It is not as if it was one of the kids and his friends, or
schoolmates. Look at the NHL, especially the American teams. Most of
them are not even American. They are Canadians, Swedes and Russians.
I just checked out the Toronto Blue Jays team roster and as I went down
the list I quickly confirmed that the team was made up mostly of Americans.

Basically, the fans see it as an excuse for a drunken brawl.

It's tribal. Saying "I'm a Broncos fan" makes you part of the tribe.

Same thing as religious markers such as Kashrut or fasting for Lent.

No different from Amrericans dissing soccer (even by calling it
"soccer").

I should have written "US/Canadian football". Both are equally boring.

What sport is not boring to watch? A lot of Canadians prefer American
football and there are lots of Americans who prefer Canadian football.
I think both are more interesting than basketball, and watching paint
dry is akin to watching paint dry. The only sporting event I enjoy
watching is equestrian hunter jumper events.

When I think of equestrian events, for some reason I think of Camilla

Sometimes boring is good. If I'm feeling a little stressed, I'll
sometimes try to find a curling match on tv.

They don't drink and really do like watching football but they're loud
anyway. I can cook while they watch TV in a different part of the
