Mine will be one of them but that's Don in the converted garage. I do actually appreciate that day when he has friends over as I can make various munchies and even tailor to diets some may need. This year it will be Art (age 83), Don (65), Ben (29) and Sarah (21). Quite the difference! Also as you look at the list, Charlotte and I wil also be eating our share. Ben and Sarah are vegetarians sort of as they eat seafood only for meats and Ben is lactose intolerant but both do eggs. They do not mind if a deep fry oil was used for a meat item before a veggie item. Art is Jewish and doesn't do pork (but other than that, he's pretty much into anything including shrimp). Beef chile with beans on the side (meatless but very flavorful with 4 types of white beans and garlic plus mushrooms, basically cassolet but not classic). The beef chile is added by those who want to add beef to the beans. Wrappers - add beef chile and may add beans if wanted. Cheese on the side in both grated and a small crockpot with melted. Slivered raw onions at the ready. A deep flavored dashi with curry made to a thick gravy and in a warmer. Used to dip 'whatever'. This one is slightly sweet in a korean type of way. Rice balls filled with various things (Purple topping is vegetarian ones with veggie fillings, green seaweed topped ones are seafood, rolled in black sesame seed with fruit filling). Home made fries in batches as the game goes along, they work well topped with the beef chili and/or the cheese (melted best), dipped if desired in the curry or just as they are. Hot popcorn made with coconut oil delivered every hour or so, uses sea salt and a light dusting of black and white pepper. 15lbs shrimp, 7 of it to be peeled and eaten cold after simmering in Namya Curry Paste and Coconut milk. 8lbs left at the ready if they want more ;-) 2 pizzas, 12 inch or so each and as thin as I can work the dough, dressed with a blend of 8 garlic cloves blendered with olive oil then slivered red and sweet onions sweated briefly to translucent in the same oil/garlic mix as a topping. Cooked to crispy and served just as is, cut to strips. Crusty deep fried dill pickle spears in an almost tempura type of crust. These have to be fixed at the time so depends on how the other food goes. Lots of bags of chips ;-) Carol -- |

Gee whiz, that sounds like european football/soccer just as much as the USA football. LOL! Typical RFC non-Usains dissing most things USA. I like watching US football. Soccer is boring to me but I'll admit, I've never watched an entire game of it. I'll say this though, of all sports people, soccer players are probably in the best physical shape. Those kids are constantly running all up and down the field the entire game. I was invited to a SuperBowl party today but I politely declined. In the past I've been to 2 of those and once to a sports bar. Fail on all 3. Most people there don't seem to give a crap about football. It's just a party event. End of every single play is filled with hooting and hollering by the drunken ones. I do like to watch the game so I'll just cook a decent meal, nothing special, and enjoy the game in peace at home. :) |

Nothing special today, I bought a take and bake pizza from Papa Murphy's, some pistachios, salad fixings, and a couple of Guinness's. Your party food sounds wonderful and I'm sure your guests will enjoy it all. Go Denver!!! Cheri |

Sounds great :) Grin, that which can be premade well, is now made or chopped and ready to go. We had lots of the white bean cassolet abd chile beef so Charlotte and I had that for lunch with added raw red and sweet onion to taste. The brown curry sauce isn't anything fantastic until you add it over something. Then it sparkles. It's ready to go and for our vegetariarn friends we added something we all like: pressed hard tofu then fried in sesame oil. Set to the side, these 2 make a dish by themselves. The pizza crusts are ready and waiting to be twirled to thin rounds. I got a little fancy and am trying cheese filled sticks too. Shrimp chilling (that version best served iced) with sauce at the side (also chilled as right for the flavors) Fries chopped. Rice balls ready in a covered container (meat ones in fridge). Wink, Art dropped off some of the *good stuff* gefilte fish and some good matzo because even if it's not the season for it, he'd like to have Sarah and Ben see how they match so well. Wonder if we will get to the tempura pickles? Oh well, if we don't, it's because we are having fun with the rest! Oh I ran out of dry kernal popcorn but Ben has a 1/2 bag to bring over so it's all good. He was a little amused that I didnt need organic coconut oil because I have a large container to feed my dog with and probably 1 1/2 cups right now ready to go at need. They will be arriving over the next hour. I'll be back here sporadically cooking and listening to them yell at the game. Apt to be glommered by the dogs and cat scared of all the noise (grin). I don't understand the fascination so many people have with watching other people playing a game and how the rabidly root for their <?> team, as if they have anything to do with the outcome. It interesting to see that so many of the fans consider themselves to be sports enthusiasts because the are spectators, especially when so many of them are too bad to bend over and tie up their shoes. At least North Americans tend to make a big party of the major play-offs. In other parts of the world the soccer fans just get shit faced drunk and start rioting. |

Mainly using their weight on fence posts and the wire itself. Bruce mentioned horses scratching their butts on posts - that can be enough to work the posts loose. Some horses then figure out that's a great way to get out of their paddocks and do it on purpose. Then you have a problem on your hands... Of course, one *can* build a horse proof fence, but at considerably more expense. The best escape artists I've had here were two miniature goats I dubbed 'the Houdini sisters'. I once saw one of them slither sideways between the top wire and the mesh underneath! At that point, I gave up on improving the fence and tethered both of them on a very long 'run' across the paddock. That sorted them out... |

Yes, and who exactly are in their 'team' anyway? Guns for hire, basically, with no true loyalty to the team itself... few if any come from the local area the 'team' is supposed to be based from. To me it's just all about money, all the way down the line. > It interesting to see >that so many of the fans consider themselves to be sports enthusiasts >because the are spectators, especially when so many of them are too bad >to bend over and tie up their shoes. > >At least North Americans tend to make a big party of the major >play-offs. Yes, it's all a very odd phenomenon to me. Then there's the small matter of the sportsmen/athletes themselves, most of the top ones appear to be complete sociopaths. But then, that's what seems to give them their winning edge to begin with. |

Given that the horse I dealt with were hunter jumpers, I am surprised that they didn't just jump the fences and take off, but they seem inclined to jump that high only when they had a rider to spur them on. Cows often lean on fences and break them. I used to spend much of each summer on a friends farm. They boarded herds of different types of cows over the years, and fence repair was a near constant chore. |
