If you read newpapers you'd know that they have already picked up several terrorists in rural NY, they don't all inhabit the big cities, they live out in the woods because there are far fewer eyeballs on their comings and goings. I've always had a shotgun, I just wanted a newer nicer one, now I'll have two. And keeping firearms has nothing to do with bigotry, people in rural areas are ripe targets for break-ins, everyone here keeps firearms because the druggie population is huge, there are lots of burglaries, and there are no police for several miles. I don't go wandering about here without being armed, there are bears in the woods and other dangerous preditors... when I go out to saw up a fallen tree in my back field I bring a shotgun, if I need to go out to my barn at night I go armed. I know very well that there are bad people of every persuasion but nowadays the most violent are the terrorist mooslims, and NY is their biggest prize, they arrive any which way they can. You sound like a very shallow thinking/naive city mouse... you're likely one of those plastic Calyfornian potheads with the typical Disneyland mentality. |

If they really want to terrorize the U.S., they'll pick Branson, MO, or Peoria. Something that tells people "we can hit you where you live". > they arrive any which way they can. The U.S. postal >> service abbreviation for California is CA. I don't think >> it has one for Canada. The Internet country code for >> Canada is .ca > >OK, thanks, very much! I had seen both but I hadn't know which was which. The US Postal service doesn't have an abbreviation for Canada, instead they use the Province and Territory abbreviations, and spell out Canada: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadi..._te rritories However it was very obvious that I was refering to the New York-Canada border... people with a functioning brain know that there is no New York-California border, except in Disneyland. Before there was an internet, a postal service, or a California, and even before Canada was divided into provinces and territories, and for those of us who were educated about Geography even in grade 6 public schools the abbreviation for Canada was always CA. http://sustainablesources.com/resour...abbreviations/ Cindy Hamilton needs to check her dictionary (if she even owns one and is capable of its use) for "context", as in reading for *context*: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/context I'm positive Cindy was not a very good student, probably got failing grades in "Gets along well with others" too. It's the human condition to be conspiratorial. It happens every day at every level of life. Just because you throw in a term like 'conspiracy believers' doesn't automatically invalidate anything. Don't you believe that people and groups of people sometimes conspire together to achieve a given result? >That "stab in the back" was NOT ALLOWED TO HAPPEN...no matter how much you'd like it to be true. >====== Well, it certainly changed the public's resistance to enter the war, didn't it? The theory, as I understand it, is that Roosevelt wanted war and figured the only way isolationists would agree to go to war would be if they were attacked. It makes no sense to sacrifice the Pacific fleet to get drawn into a way when they needed that same fleet to fight the war. They would at least have been on a higher state of readiness to fight off the attack an minimize losses. It would still have been an attack and would have allowed them to get into the war... and to have a better chance against a formidable foe. |

How about bear, cougar and wolves? When I knew cougar had been sighted within the hills of our city, I wouldn't even walk the dog at night in my own neighborhood. I don't know about Sheldon's area, but hunting is allowed within some miles of here. That means it is reasonable to assume there are animals nearby. Janet US |

That is a good argument, but a little presumptuous not needing to 'sacrifice the fleet' to make the isolationists go along with entering the war. |

My dad knew the radar operator that spotted the really big group of planes coming into Oahu in 1941. The guy was told not to worry about it - it was our planes. This doesn't make much sense because people were expecting an invasion so who knows what happened. My father's high school class spent a lot of time clearing out the coastline of brush - I guess so big guns could be set up. It was a heck of a time for kids in high school. Twenty years later my dad would help build a network of missile defense radar installations on atolls throughout the Pacific. I guess you could say he spent a lot of time getting the country ready for enemy attacks. |

There are plenty of dangerous critters that I've sighted on my property; black bear, cougar, coyote, several types of poisonous snakes, even does will attack when with fawns and you inadvertantly surprise them. |

Like the warning of the approaching planes on Dec 7th, it was ignored. America is a country that is reactive rather than pro-active. We're not a before-the-fact kind of people. Did you hear the one about Tojo sending a message to the Japanese-American solders in Hawaii encouraging them to be loyal to their emperor (Roosevelt) and to fight with all their strength for their country? It's kind of a nutty story but it just goes to show you how strongly loyalty and honor and the Bushido code was held by the Japanese military. |

But we'll need a name for the >internment/torture facilities. I believe the names Buchenwald, Dachau, >and Auschwitz are available. > >Cindy Hamilton You're backhandedly admitting I'm correct, torture does not mean annihilation if an entire people, it means squeezing out information from an individual... your local police do it all the time, how do you think they get the one bad person they apprehended to give up their accomplices... and compared to other countries solitary in US prisons is like a private suite at the Sheraton. I was 100% correct, you are extremely naive and as smarmy as smarmy gets. you have no concept whatsoever of how other contries treat prisoners. My mother's brother was tortured by the north koreans and as a lowly helicopter mechanic he knew less than nothing... he was 23 years old, a new father who never saw his child, those slanty eyed *******s amputated both his legs above the knee by tourniquitte, he died in a VA hospice in Homestead Fl, alone. I'd have no problem nuking ALL koreans off this planet like they never existed. I have a BIL who suffered torture at the hands of the gooks in nam who is living out his remaining days as a vegetable in a VA home, he doesn't even know where he is or who he is, he's held together with nuts, bolts, and steel plates, would have been more humane they killed him. I'm glad you and your family were never touched by war, obviously you couldn't handle it. You are as other worldly in your comprehension of this world as some ET from Billions of light years away. I know exactly what's needs to be done to save the human race. First and most critical is to outlaw ALL religions, anyone who refuses must be eliminated immediately, not even a burial, just a mass composting. The next biggest problem on this planet is over population... marriage needs to be eliminated and no ten people are to be permitted more than one child... there are ways to work this out, probably by lottery, and no one has jursidiction over any newborn, newborns come equally under the auspices of all inhabitants. And there would be no government, government would be considered as a religion and must be annihlated. The concept of family must be eliminated as well. If what I've proposed is not adopted the human race cannot exist another hundred years neither will any life on this planet because as everything is progressing within less than 30 years there will occur a nuclear holocast that will eliminate all life including viral. |
