How about bear, cougar and wolves? When I knew cougar had been
sighted within the hills of our city, I wouldn't even walk the dog at
night in my own neighborhood. I don't know about Sheldon's area, but
hunting is allowed within some miles of here. That means it is
reasonable to assume there are animals nearby.
