Default Easy Green Bean Casserole

This one uses cream and cornstarch. I was going to try cornstarch
this year, so it's worth my consideration.

That sounds good, I hope it meets your expectations, don't see how it could
miss.

Basically, you're spending all that energy to substitute the can of
mushroom soup. And you still put those canned fried onions on?

If you want pure, why not make onion rings, let them cool then
chop up for a topping? They should be better.

I've never made that casserole. I always have green beans with TG
or Christmas roast bird meals. I just cook the green beans to death
then top with homegravy made from the turkey. I guess I could cook
some onions with the green beans...or top with onion rings.

Too many other good things going on with the dinner to go crazy
with the darn green beans though.

For the green bean casserole, my mom always crisped up some bacon
and put those bits in, and used some of the bacon grease in the roux
for the white sauce. Yummy.

Yes, that would be a good addition.

I swear, most of yoose are so obsessed with bacon... if I coated my
peepee with bacon grease you'd dive right on it for some yummy white
sauce!

You too... form a line... take a number! LOL

Wow, insight. That looks like a very easy recipe to me. Can you pick
a more trivial and easily changed part to pick at? Don't want to use
canned onions, do something else. I top mine with buttered bread
crumbs... which will be gluten free this years.

I don't want to, but you're taking what you think is a recipe that
takes effort and putting more into it which is not making any sense.

There you go. Being criticized by the unqualified.

Not for me. My family loves it but I need to make it without gluten
this year. Crossing my fingers that dairy products are okay or at
least tolerable by that time.

I use dry sherry. I like it and that's not going to change.

Only if the beans weren't in a cream sauce.
