It has been around since I was a child and that has been a long time. Obviously it is very sweet but you aren't planning to eat it by the cupful are you? It is a pretty necessary ingredient in things like pecan pie. If we had an idea what you need it for we might be of more help. Some of the other sweeteners have fairly strong flavors that you may or may not want in what you are making. -- Susan N.
