I know. But the OP asked for cheap pans.

I still shop online. When I needed the Bundt pan I needed it within a few
days. No Amazon Prime back when I lived in CA.

Each time you post you really do amaze me. Things change. You don't seem
to. You just seem to be stuck off in everything has to always be the same
land or some such thing.

I have gone through many phases of my life and I wasn't one of the first
people to own a computer although I was one of the first to buy one which my
brother and I gave as a gift to our dad. Back then, I was working at K Mart
and most of the time if I needed to buy something I could get it right there
on my way home from work. Shoes were often an exception because we didn't
sell paricularly high quality ones in those days so I normally bought them
elsewhere. We did sell some of the exact same clothing as Nordstrom, but
Nordstrom often was cheaper.

I did do some mail order back in those days and I did use catalogs. But it
was sometimes hard for me to get the packages, particularly when I lived
above the dance studio. Because my front door was three feet from Aurora
Ave, the mail person or UPS person would not leave my package on the
doorstep if I wasn't home. And because I worked a lot of hours I often
couldn't go pick the package up either.

Now I am home a lot and I have all the time in the world. I could drive
around and go shopping but I choose not to. For one thing I am disabled and
it is difficult for me to do much walking. So if I can get something online
and I don't need it immediately I will do that. Sometimes I can even get
things the next day if willing to pay the postage and sometimes I even do
get the next day even when I am told they will arrive later. It also saves
me a lot of time to shop this way. For instance, one of our cheap wall
clocks broke. I am one of those people who wants a clock in every room.
And I prefer things that go on the wall to be lightweight. Maui had a near
miss when a very pretty but heavy clock fell from the wall and almost hit
her. Since then I have changed all of the clocks. Now a clock is something
that I wouldn't know where to locate in a store. Every store seems to have
them in different places. I know this because I did once go into Lowes to
buy one. I had to ask where they were and even the clerk I asked didn't
know. So... 5 minutes or so online and I got my clock. It's hanging up
now, ticking away.

Any big box store would have pans but not necessarily cheap ones. Some
dollar stores have pans but not necessarily tube pans.

Both *are* tube pans though. And I don't think that my Bundt pan had sloped
sides.

I retired from there in the 90's. We did sell pans but not much in the way
of specialty things. I bought my baking things elsewhere.

Here's a link for ya:

http://community.cookinglight.com/sh...t-s-a-tube-pan

As you can see, both things are in fact tube pans. Tube meaning that they
have a hole in the middle, hence the tube. Some of the bakers there even
say that they have made tube cake recipes in a Bundt cake pan.

And since you are so keen on remembering my words, you will remember that I
did not in fact say that a Bundt and tube cake pan were the same, only that
at Amazon they were about the same price and that wasn't in my opinion,
cheap! I don't know if you can get a cheap tube pan. I hate Angel Food
cake, would never make one and would never buy a pan for one.

That could be. Here, the only Thrift Shop I ever go to is Value Village.
They seem to have mainly clothing and not much at all in the way of kitchen
stuff. There may well be other Thrift Shops. I just have no need to go
there.

Retired? Getting a big, fat pension, I bet. What a laugh.

No. I am eligible for a pension. I could actually get it now. I will wait
as I will get more if I do. Not big and fat but any pension is better than
no pension. And there are a lot of people out there who never stuck with
any one job long enough to get that.

There was net shopping in the 90s, but I seriously doubt the Bove
worked for Kmart more than a week before being fired, and that was
cleaning toilets, and doing a **** poor job.

There was. I didn't get a computer until the late 90's though and I don't
know if K Mart had online shopping back then. I don't think they did. I do
remember free Internet from bluelight.com when we were in CA. But I had no
need to buy online from them then as there was a K Mart in Oakland.

I did work for K Mart for 17 years and I don't need to justify it to you. I
never cleaned a toilet there. We always had a day porter and we had
janitors at night.

True Julie. You will have something other than just social security.
(plus whatever else you put aside). There was a time when Sam of
Walmart was good to the workers and actually supported the military
with good APO/FPO delivery at the same rates they were charged. When
he died, they charged overseas rates but shipped APO/FPO rates (taking
the rest in pure profit).

They didnt pay much over minimum wage, but had *benefits* equal to jobs
making 30$ an hour or more. Sadly, that is no more. The son took over
for the old man and it all went downhill.

My bad, I thought it was Walmart.

If it helps, Kmart was another who delt honestly with APO/FPO customers
online. Oddly, they were faster about it. Stuff often arrived in 3
days to Sasebo Japan from order date. Others averaged 5-7 days (fair).
Shipboard of course varied with where you ship was and how it could
catch up with you so could be a week or could be 2 months but that isnt
their fault. It's military trying to shift packages to nearest post
they can lift them by air to where you ship is.

Naw, you worked the same as I have all my life. No one should be
denigrating that.

BTW what really upsets me is that there is an assumption here that
people who clean things to make them safe and sanitary for the rest of
us are 'lesser people'.

Honestly I do not think you cleaned toilets but even if you had, I'd
still respect you as a valid person who had a job and did it well
enough to earn a pension eventually.

Kudos Julie. Seriously.

Have you looked at the supermarket? I saw very thin walled bunt pans
at mine yesterday so maybe yours has them too (probably a Christmas
only item). The shelf sticker was missing, so I can't tell you how
much it cost. Another place to check would be the kitchen section of
your local old fashioned (not big box) hardware store... if you have
one nearby.

At a different grocery store today, saw the same one. Rounded to $12.

With all YOUR health problems, you'd better take it NOW. After all, a nickel is almost as good as a dime.

Nope. I may have a lot of health problems but AFAIK, none are life
threatening. I am not desperate for money at the moment.
