I saw something funny at my local bakery coffee shop this past summer.
Two older women were sitting at the next table. One of the women pulled
out her phone and started doing something with it. The other one asked
her if she was on her phone. The woman ignored the question, so the
other one pulled out her tabled and fired it out. The first woman took
the hint and put her phone away, so she put her tablet away. A couple
minutes later the old girl started looking at her phone. " Excuse
me...are you using your phone again?" an then pulled out her tablet again.

Thanks Graham...I am very thankful that I am not part of society that dines in those hoity-toity places. I see enough phonies without having to eat in their "watering holes" and waste time and resources keeping up with "the Joneses".

I rarely eat out. I find that all restaurants use way too much salt.

I prefer my own cooking anyway, so much so that just the other day I
declined an invitation to eat in a restaurant for my birthday. I cooked
food that I love at home and enjoyed doing so)

That's always best for me too.

All the years (only 8-9) that I was married, the wife always wanted to
go out to a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner. Not me. Thanksgiving
was just one of the days that you definitely don't want to go out for
dinner. I love to spend all morning preparing and cooking a special
meal for family.

Then I got divorced and young daughter stayed with me. One year early
on, I thought, "Ok, why not try the TG dinner at a restaurant? I'll
give it a try."

So I skipped all the cooking that day and later in the late afternoon
we went to the restaurant for their "special Thanksgiving dinner."
Big mistake.

The food was not all that good. Nothing as good as homemade. Plus I
spent all day (before restaurant) with nothing special to do and no
good smells in the house. And no piles of leftovers either. What a
fail Thanksgiving that was. Never again!

Each day I am alive and well, it is a good day, so I do not mind getting
older. Your health means everything.

Agree! My parents love to dine out, even on Thanksgiving. And I didn't
mind doing that if we went to a place where I could order what I wanted.
Like a Mexican restaurant. But I hated going to the jam packed places where
you could only get their version of a Thanksgiving dinner. I always left
there hungry. There might have been one or two things on my plate that I
liked and would have liked more of but there was no way for that. And the
rest was just pretty bad or stuff I didn't like.

If you don't feel like cooking you'd do much better attired in your
best schmatahs and dining at a local soup kitchen... thanksgiving
dinner will be better than the finast restaurant... the meal will be
well prepared, plentiful, eat what you like as much as you like, and
you won't get rushed out to make space for the next customer.
