Oxtails are in the crockpot; should be ready about the time you get
home, more or less.

Shadow is here next to me; no sign of Ginger.

I hope they turn out as nicely as the oxtails I had on Sunday. The
leftovers on Tuesday were even better.

Heh. I'm going to make some chicken and spinach sausage. I bought two
packages this time. The last time I made it, it was all gone in an instant!
Also macaroni and cheese from a box because the box is what they like.

I will be having a turkey sandwich. Not so much because I want to but
because I need to use up the turkey and bread. And salads for all!

They both have major TIAD then. I like almost any food but that boxed
M&C is such a letdown. I can't believe anyone actually likes that.

So, you're a Sheldum wannabe? Too bad. You seemed like a fairly nice
guy, but you're clearly one off if you think Sheldum's rants and nasty
comments contain the slightest amount of humor.

I love it. I don't even care if it's not Kraft. The store brand is
fine by me.

Yes, it's good - but it's not something I make very often. It takes a
lot of cheese and a lot of time to do it right. I don't need to prove
anything to myself or anybody else, so I eat whatever version suits my
fancy and it's boxed most of the time.

I'm glad you like it but I think powdered cheese is horrid. And you
can't bake that stuff until it's nicely browned on top. The result is
no cheese taste at all, just oily slightly orange macaroni. I know this
because when I was young and married and had no money I bought the blue
box. Sorry, but it was awful.

I *am* a fairly nice guy. I'm not here to fight but to listen and
learn some cooking lessons. Say something weird to me though, and I'll
get on your case.

I am not a Sheldon wannabe. When I first came here I noticed that his
sense of humor was very close to my own so yes....I like the guy. I
see what he's doing here and I laugh. You obviously are still
clueless. He's pulling your strings and you (and many others) fall for
it constantly. LOL@ It cracks me up.

I eat what I like too. You like boxed Mac&cheese, fine for you. You'll
never achieve Ina status eating that though. hehh

You recently said to me, "You have no sense of taste, can't cook and

I bought whatever was cheap when my daughter was little. But now she is on
a Spongebob kick so the last couple of boxes were that.

You don't even have to bake it. Just make cheese sauce and mix in your
pasta. Just as quick as the boxed but will cost you more money. You really
can't beat the boxed stuff for cheap. Especially if you get an off brand.
Some people buy it just for the pasta and use the cheese powder for other
things. Like popcorn seasoning.

One thing I did love though was salad made with it. The original recipe
called for ham cubes but I used canned tuna as I hate ham. Also peas. I
used canned but you can use fresh cooked or even frozen. And assorted
vegetables like chopped onion or green onion, sweet pickles or relish,
celery, fresh parsley, whatever you like. Mayo for dressing. I would
garnish with tomato and hard cooked egg wedges. Always went over well at
potlucks.

You have to ask? She said she bought two packages. Maybe they were raw
sausages so she actually had to cook them. Most likely she only had to
heat them up.

People do buy it for that.

Newsflash! Boxed mac and cheese, canned tomato soup, grilled cheese
sandwiches with faux cheese and soft white bread and Ramen noodles are all
cheap foods and what people tend to buy when they haven't got much money.

Kids usually like the boxed stuff because it hasn't got much flavor.
However... I started Angela out on the boxed stuff with added sharp cheddar
so she likes the additional flavor. She just doesn't like the texture of a
white sauce with cheese added. And despite what seemingly everyone else
told me, I started her out eating things with real onions in them. Everyone
told me that kids hate onions. Guess what? She eats onions.

My mom never made real mac and cheese. I didn't have it until I was an
adult. I saw someone make it on a cooking show so I made it. Then I made
the mistake of trying Stouffers after my friend said how good it was. I
then realized after I tried to eat the mush that my friend wore dentures.
The soft texture may have been the appeal. It tasted fine but...

I buy it at Target. Must be very good because they are often sold out. I
think it is their brand. Simple or Simply or something like that. Angela
tried it but didn't like it. Husband loves the stuff and complained that I
didn't give him very much. I had given him two and they are about twice the
size of a breakfast sausage. So... Next time I will buy three or four
packages!

I have made real mac and cheese. I only ever once baked it in the oven.
Turns out that I myself do not like it baked. Especially not with bread
crumbs on top.

I grew up on the stuff in the box. I always add extra cheese when I make
because there isn't a lot of protein in it. So whenever my daughter gets it
made by someone else, she thinks they did something wrong. Heh. Shhhh...
Don't tell her!

I started making my own mac and cheese when I was in my late 30's. I would
just make a white sauce, often adding some chopped onion if I had it, a
little dry mustard and whatever cheese I had which was usually a very sharp
cheddar. I would also use whatever pasta I had. Wasn't usually macaroni.
That's the way I like it. But... What can I say? Both of them like the
boxed stuff and they like the Parmesan in the green can. Once in a while I
buy a small amount of Parmesano Reggiano but it never pleases them. I still
keep trying though.

After I had my daughter, my mom promised to come over and cook a meal of my
choice. Not being a fan of her cooking, I went out and bought a jar of
known cheese sauce and some pasta. I told her to make that. It was not as
good as *my*cheese sauce but better than the boxed stuff, IMO.

However, since you like Hamburger Helper, I should think that you'd like the
boxed stuff. Add some cooked ground beef to that and perhaps a little extra
cheese and you'll have something that is better than Cheeseburger Helper.
