also for inflicting upon the world the Kwanzaa cake, a cake so disgusting that there are dozens of tribute videos on youtube of people making her cake because it is so awful. |

I think most here aspire to cook at a higher skill level or they wouldn't be here looking for ideas. Tonight I took some boiled potatoes leftover from a previous potato salad production, diced some onion, added some bay leaves and thyme, S&P, canned chopped clams and juice and some box vegetable stock to make chowder. Quick and easy and lazy. I think that's a level above SL, but not really that far. I have more clams left (51oz can) so clam fritters are on the agenda for tomorrow. |

The point is that she has a particular audience and that's who she is addressing. If you don't like her show, then there are others you might like better. I don't like reality shows of any type, so I watch shows that are cooking demonstrations. I don't particularly like Southern cooking, so that narrows the field. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |

If you can get some of the Gordon Ramsey cooking school TV shows via bit-torrent you will find he knows his stuff and instructs well. As a reality TV character I find him nose-punch-worthy. It's all how one presents. I do recommend his show "The F Word", simply for the diversity of chefs and dishes presented. I was surprised that no one nominated him in this category. |

IMO, it's one of those IT geek things that uses too many terms I have no clue about. Not much of a video watcher anyway. I ignore video only recipes. If they don't have a written transcript below or a recipe link - I'm not interested. That's one reason why PBS cooking shows are not at the top of my must watch list. Those who do have recipes online make them hard to find and you have to buy the cookbook to get others. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |

Oooh! Anne Burrell is another one I can't stand. She has his hair! I gather that she is a very good cook. It's just her superior attitude that I can't stand. Likewise for Joanne Weir. |

She really knows what she's doing - but I do wish she'd take a couple of inches off her hair... it's too long to be spiked like that. > It's just her superior attitude that I can't stand. Superior? I think she's funny as hell and makes me laugh out loud... but I can see that she, Guy Fieri and Rachael Ray use the same style of commenting. > Likewise for Joanne Weir. Another good cook, no opinion about her personality. She instructs people how to cook on TV and that's what she does as a living. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |

Her latest show is the one where a restaurant hires a chef. Don't think it is on currently. In the beginning she says something like, "That's why they call ME!" And she looks all puffed up and superior. > >> Likewise for Joanne Weir. > > Another good cook, no opinion about her personality. I can't stand Rachel Ray and Bobby Flay. I do like Nigella Lawson, Ina Garten, and Ree Drummond. I don't watch cooking shows much anymore though. Cheri |

I don't watch cooking shows much anymore though. I had to look up Nigella. Had heard the name but she doesn't even look familiar to me so I guess I've never seen her show. |

"I'm a happy girl!" This is repeated at least 3 times during a 1-hour show. She is an okay cook, though. Becca Dry Italian Seasoning Mix 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder 1 tablespoon onion powder 2 tablespoons oregano 1 tablespoon dried parsley 1-2 tablespoons granulated sugar 1 tablespoons salt 1 teaspoon black pepper 1 teaspoon dried basil 1/4 teaspoon thyme 1/2 teaspoon dried celery flakes dried mustard? Mix all ingredients together and store in air-tight container. Shake dry ingredients, then mix 2 tablespoons of this mix with 1/4 cup vinegar, 2 tbs water, and 1/2 to 2/3 cup olive oil or canola oil. Refrigerate and shake well before using. |

I was fine with his cooking show the last time I saw one, but I can NOT stand Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and/or whatever else he hosts where he's not cooking. For the most part, I liked what he demonstrated (his Bo Peep pie is a go-to recipe for me) and would have tried one of his restaurants... but I do NOT like the sound of his weird fusion menus, so that's out. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |
