Who would you name of the current batch and why?

Bobby Flay cooks some interesting stuff, but his manner turns me off.

I can't really think of bad ones but there are some that I don't like.

Paula Deen because she is so phony.

Bobby Flay because I find his voice to be annoying.

Guy Fie(whatever his name is) because I find him annoying.

There are lots of people who love to bash her (more, I think to make
themselves feel better about their own nasty cooking), but there are
lots more people who actually cook like that. Some of them even post
here.

Fieri - and yes, he is the human cliche factory.

I don't know if it's the cheap costume jewelery, the spiked died hair,
or the skate punk wardrobe that grates on me more, but when he starts
going "off the hook"and "out of bounds", I feel like locking him in a
phone booth with Rachel Ray and a bottle of "EVOO"!

Does he do actual cooking anymore? I was fine with his cooking show
the last time I saw one, but I can NOT stand Diners, Drive-Ins and
Dives and/or whatever else he hosts where he's not cooking. For the
most part, I liked what he demonstrated (his Bo Peep pie is a go-to
recipe for me) and would have tried one of his restaurants... but I do
NOT like the sound of his weird fusion menus, so that's out.

I'm not sure, his last cooking show was "Guy's Big Bite", but that's
been a couple of years back.

I think most people do their food like that. Whether or not it is cooking
is debatable.

Tonight we are having burgers. I am not cooking them. Have hamburger
patties and some kind of chicken BBQ patties from Costco. Both precooked.
Just nuke them. But I did make the whole grain macaroni salad to accompany.
I won't be having that though.

Oooh! Anne Burrell is another one I can't stand. She has his hair! I

I don't think I've seen him do any cooking but I can not stand that show
that you mentioned. They seem to feature what I call "big food" and I can't

I can't say I've ever made a specific recipe of hers, but she did

I love her cooking. She really knows what she's doing - but I do wish

Superior? I think she's funny as hell and makes me laugh out loud...

Another good cook, no opinion about her personality. She instructs
people how to cook on TV and that's what she does as a living.

Funny? I don't recall her ever sayng anything funny! Her latest show is
the one where a restaurant hires a chef. Don't think it is on currently.
In the beginning she says something like, "That's why they call ME!" And

On the other side of this discussion, one thing we really lack in
cooking shows is a chef who does good seafood.

I thoroughly enjoy Ban Sargent's program, "Hook, Line & Dinner" on the
cooking channel:

http://www.cookingchanneltv.com/chefs/ben-sargent.html

He sort of reminds me of Bruce Springsteen with a sunnier disposition.

I disagree there. Oliver grew up in the restaurant business, literally.
And his recipes and passion are complimentary.

As for being an "idiot"...who's laughing all the way to the bank, you or
him?

I also salute him for his efforts, bot here an in the UK, to promote
better school food choices.

I don't find a lot of artifice in the man, just caring and creativity.

I don't think there is a person here (or most anywhere else) who doesn't
cook like that occasionally when they are tired or in a hurry. I think
most here aspire to cook at a higher skill level or they wouldn't be
here looking for ideas.

Tonight I took some boiled potatoes leftover from a previous potato
salad production, diced some onion, added some bay leaves and thyme,
S&P, canned chopped clams and juice and some box vegetable stock to make
chowder. Quick and easy and lazy. I think that's a level above SL, but
not really that far. I have more clams left (51oz can) so clam fritters
are on the agenda for tomorrow.

It says more about their jealousy than anything else. Make fun of it
if you can't have it and really wish your life was that way. Neither
one "has it all". Both gave up something to build their empire - Ina
has no children, but she has a devoted husband and Martha has a child,
but her marriage failed.

The point is that she has a particular audience and that's who she is
addressing. If you don't like her show, then there are others you
might like better. I don't like reality shows of any type, so I watch
shows that are cooking demonstrations. I don't particularly like
Southern cooking, so that narrows the field.

Did Ina want children? She and Jeffrey seem totally fine with just each
other.

Yes.

Yes again.

You read things pretty objectively.

No small talent that is.

She certainly does, and they haven't canceled her due to low ratings either.

There are and so I frequent them.

I'm a big Ming Tsai fan, even if some of his fusions are a bit odd.

I like some Southern dishes, but as a category I find it lacking as well.

If you can get some of the Gordon Ramsey cooking school TV shows via
bit-torrent you will find he knows his stuff and instructs well.

As a reality TV character I find him nose-punch-worthy.

It's all how one presents.

I do recommend his show "The F Word", simply for the diversity of chefs
and dishes presented.

I was surprised that no one nominated him in this category.

I've never seen it, onto the DVR it goes, thank you.

I like Ben, he's a real person with minimal ego.

That's not a speech impediment, it's a working class statement ;-)

I can't stand Rachel Ray and Bobby Flay. I do like Nigella Lawson, Ina
Garten, and Ree Drummond. I don't watch cooking shows much anymore though.

Could be. I love Ina's house, her herb garden, and her lifestyle...but I'm
not at all interested in Jeffrey. ;-) What bothers me about RR is that she's
just too busy with all the rushing here and there, where Ina is soothing to
me most times.

There's a big difference between lack of interest and actively
denigrating people who are obviously successful at what they do. I
don't visualize you in the second category.
