I was totally surprised to find packages of chicken feet at the local
supermarket yesterday. I had not seen them in years. I bought one. The kid at the register was really grossed out by them. I separated them into two packages and froze them. They make awesome chicken soup/stock/broth all that gelatin and such. It is nearly impossible to find any meat or poultry product here that would not be part of the Mexican culinary culture, hence the dismay at finding them. -- Janet Wilder Way-the-heck-south Texas Spelling doesn't count. You are fortunate, and like you I enjoy watching the reaction of some of the supermarket kids at the more esoteric stuff that I buy. The last one I had to explain was sweetbreads. But did you mean "dismay" in the last sentence?? pavane |

It's "Danger, danger, Will Robinson" And I always thought that Penny was cute too. heheh She was about my age at the time. I saw a package of chicken feet in a grocery once. It freaked me out....looked like a package of giant spiders. heheheh Also, long ago, I worked with an old country fellow. He liked them. His wife would simmer them for soup broth, then he liked to sit there and gnaw on them for a snack. G. |
