Default A new use for Bi-carb soda.

It has many........ fridge deodorant, tenderising steak, cleaning
silverware, etc, etc.

Now, it has been discovered that it will kill fungal infections.

A Naturopath was using it to treat women with Thrush, he spoke to a
Podiatrist (mine) who had a think about it, and used it on a couple of her
patients with severe foot/nail fungal infections.

She was telling me today that she is absolutely blown away with the
results. 4 weeks, and even a *severe* case of fungal infection on one of
her patients was killed off and the toe nails growing back healthily.

Now I just have to convince some friends of mine to either put a bi-carb
paste on their feet, or just soak their feet in a solution..... rather than
take (life threatening) tablets, or endure 12 months of painting on a
'cure' (Loceryl).

Amazing shit, that bi-carb!!!

I think I'll bring a box of baking soda with me the next time I have a
pedicure. I wonder how much should be added per gallon of water?

If your podiatrist doesn't know about it, get her/him to research it :-)

Loceryl (tablets) actually killed a friend of my podiatrist, and she
knows of several others who have died taking it.

> I wonder how much should be added per gallon of water?
>

I asked my podiatrist the same question (except no 'gallons'!!) and she
just said "Till the water changes 'feel'. If it's a big bucket, use a
big spoonfull."

So I don't really think you can o/d the water with too much :-)

Just found this from a page off of your link..........

"Add 2 teaspoons of baking soda to your baby's bath to help sooth diaper
rash. For adults add 1/2 cups of baking soda to your bath water to help
relieve dry skin and other skin irritations. It is also great for
reliving the itch from chicken pox's and measles."

http://voices.yahoo.com/many-uses-ba...82.html?cat=57

So a 1/2 cup in a bath to help itchy/dry skin.......

As my podiatrist said to me, "People forget that fungal infections are
actually 'animals' and not bacteria."......... so I just *had* to look
it up....... she's right!! (Of course!!)

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_is_it_..._to_treat_fung
al_infections_than_it_is_to_treat_bacterial_infect ions

"Fungal infectons are difficult to treat because of the nature of fungi.
They are phylogenetically very closely related to animals and have a
very similar biochemical makeup to animals."

So to kill the 'animal'..... you raise the Ph.

Like I said....... *amazing* stuff. A friend put me onto bi-carb and
maple syrup just after my op (to remove the tumours)...... it's a
helluva lot safer and less dangerous than chemo!!
The principle is........ the maple syrup feeds any tumours in/left, and
sends them crazy, then the bi-carb comes along and changes the Ph and
starts to kill them off.

I've tested clean since the op........ after about 10 months of maple
syrup and bi-carb (as a precaution). If any anomolies show up in the
future, I know what I'm going to be reaching for straight off!!

I don't go to a podiatrist.

That kind of stuff is prescribed by full fledged medical doctors here
with lots of restrictions, like don't even think about drinking any
alcohol.

I go to one every month for a pedicure.

That's what I used to like about Bali...... sitting on the beach getting a
manicure and pedicure at the same time whilst having a cold beverage :-)

Yeah.... mine was prescribed by my Dr (at the time) and when my podiatrist
found out, she hit the roof.

As for alcohol.......... *most* medications say "no alcohol". Probably one
reason why I don't like taking any medication ;-)

Yes they do; I believe the culinary term is "Australian Huitlacoche."
(Not to be confused with "Down-Under Huitlacoche", a.k.a. vaginal yeast
infection.)

Get back to us with how well it worked, and whether you suffered any
side effects from soaking your feet in it.

No worries.

I put some in a bath for the SO the other night, and it stopped the
'itchy' skin feeling she usually gets when she soaks in the bath.

I should go to my mates place (he has a pool) and use his ph test kit to
test the tap water round here and see what it is.

That's right, Jean.....I reposted this from Peter (and also attributed it to

On 60+ groups??!! Or the 60+ group ;-)

> Good tip!

No worries..... I thought so too, which is why I passed it on.

I had a nail infection quite some time ago and the Dr I saw put me
straight onto the Loceryl tablets.
I went and saw my podiatrist about a week later and she went through the
roof when I told her I was put on the tablets, and told me to stop
taking them *immediately*!!

So then I did the nail painting thing for what seemed like an eternity,
for a very slow response.

Now I know if it ever comes back again (or even if I get an ingrown nail
bite/infection) I'll be dragging the bi-carb out of the pantry and the
damn thing will be fixed in weeks, not years!!

LOL NO, Peter..not 60 groups, on alt.sixtyplus where JeanB and I post
to......

As for the 'loceryl' Tablets, Peter, only a Medical Doctor can prescribe
those tablets.....They can be very dangerous if you have any problems with
your liver (and Kidneys as well, I think)......Surely your Doctor would know
your medical history or if a new Doctor, they would have checked it out with
you before prescribing the medication (Tablets)....

They Loceryl liquid that you paint on can take many months or up to a year
to clear the fungus....

I read this somewhere and tried it on my toenail fungus. Vick's Vaporub.
I used a geberic version. Took a while - a few months of weekly
applications - but cleared the fungus up just fine.

Loceryl can have some nasty side effects, one being severe irritation of
the skin.

A safer solution, also topical, for nail fungus is Gordochom Solution, a
tincture applied twice daily to the nail. It too takes a while to do its
stuff but it doesn't have quite the nastier side effects of Loceryl.

Yep, I know, as stated above.

Never had any problems with my liver or kidneys (well, apart from the time
when I went to donate blood and they told me that my liver was "stressed"!!
Hey!! It was Christmas time, and party season!!)

But that particular Dr never bothered to check anything..... one of our
'imports'... from some part of India.

We ended up having 'words' and he wouldn't see me again, and blacklisted me
in that particular surgery :-)

It's all good now though. He's long gone.

Not on one of the 50s groups too? I really don't recall. Anyhoo,
the mystery was quickly solved.

So long as it was word for word and not one of the 'spoofs'.... I don't
mind the 'good oil' being spread :-)

And reading a reply to your post, we find that Big Barry is the culprit :-)

BTW, which groups did you see it in, if I may ask?

True or false about bi-carb working on toenail fungus, it's a
great product, just like aspirin. My uncle used to say if they knew
back when they invented aspirin all the things it can do they'd be
charging 5 dollars a pill. I'm suspicious of the medical industry and
in fact most industries period. Some people take blood thinners for
heart trouble, I forget the name off hand, but it's in my brain - oh
yeah, Cumadin - and when they take it they are advised to NOT take
aspirin with it because it might thin the blood too much. This leads
me to suspect that Cumadin is an expensive aspirin pill. I'm
exaggerating maybe, but lots of drugs are reshuffled and renamed and
passed off as something new - just like when they take good and not so
expensive athletic shoes off the market, then later return them with a
fancy name and a really fancy price to go along with it. I use bicarb
to wash my clothes and vinegar in the rinse cycle. I never heard
about it working on toe nail fungus. But even if it's not true, I
wouldn't doubt it.

Let's bring back the old and charge new prices for it,

You don't need to tenderize rib eye in the first place. I've never
used any tenderizer on steaks. If I want a tender grilled steak, then
I'll shop accordingly and purchase Ribeye, T-Bone, Porterhouse,
Tenderloin, Strip Loin etc. We can purchase here bottom sirloin tri
tips which I use for stir fry. That cut is fairly tender(a tad chewy)
and flavourful.

Steve calls other people trolls, when in fact he is the one that is
the troll; flame artist whatever.
He got really upset because I said that I was night Chef at a British
Pub restaurant. Please note that I didn't say that I was a great
wonderful cook. I mean I was just in charge of the kitchen on the
evening shift. It's not a big deal, but he made it out to be a big
deal, and made it seem like I thought I was a great chef; greater than
Pepin etc. I'm not. I'm just a former short order cook. I never
said otherwise.

I'd say sqwishy is a flaming egomaniac rather than a troll.

He has grandiose delusions and assumes everyone else does too.

I did that too, but only for a couple months. I got utterly bored.

Good summary.

I have said that all along. It's only here to flame/abuse people from the
safety of its computer. You see, it would *never* do it IRL/face to face,
because it's a **** weak little excuse of a 'man', and would most likely be
hospitalised again.

It justifies being on the group by *very* occasionally talking about food.

This short order cook laughs at your hollandaise. Why would you even
post a pic of that runny goop?
