I tried this recipe today:

Came out great. (Assuming you like rye.) Two things: I served them
with maple syrup, but I think honey would have been a better match.
And they take a while to get crisp, but if you are familiar with whole
wheat waffles, probably about the same.

I have made spelt waffles for relatives who avoid wheat. I also make waffles with yeast when I need to avoid the sodium in baking soda. It tastes better than potassium-based baking powder. All good stuff!

Honey and waffles go great together--much different from maple syrup.

I'll have to make blueberry waffles sometime. I've only had the frozen kind.
