Default Sink mats: Consumer Reports has spoken

In the latest edition:

"A rubber mat provides a cushion.......but leaving it in a SS sink can
trap water....and cause rust and pitting. Remove the mat and any
sponges after each use, rinse the sink thoroughly and allow the sink
to dry."

They also cautioned against lining the bottom of the oven with foil.
Instead, use heavy duty foil a few inches bigger than the cooking
vessel on the rack just below the one you're using. It will catch
drips and allow heat to circulate.

In this issue, they also praised the Oxo magnetic locking can opener -
this opinion plus all of yours is making this my next must-have.
