Default those multi-tiered oven racks: any good?

I saw one in a catalog - said you could save energy and bake many
trays of cookies at once. But what about heat circulation etc?

I guess they MIGHT be good for keeping a lot of food hot for a big
holiday meal.....

Sounds like you really want to know about the convection setting in an
oven. I'd never buy one that only covected, but I do like having
convect for a setting.

I guess it depends on how multi. My oven came equipped with two racks,
and I can use both provided that the baking pan or cookie sheet leaves
enough room around the edges. But that's pretty much a necessity even
when only one is in use.

I've seen them in catalogs, too, but don't have them and know of no

My guess is for ovens that accomodate multi-tiered racks.

It's not about OVENS at all. It's about multi-tiered oven RACKS.
What part of the subject line didn't you understand?

WTF does multi-tiered mean? The only multi-tiered convection ovens
I've seen beyond the usual two were built-in european makes. My top
oven has only two racks but it has a convection setting. Therefore, I
think the question needs to be refined and made more clear.

I think the type of ovens the OP was asking about come with their own
racks.

I am hoping someone will post a pic of one because I don't know what they

Reading the reviews doesn't make me think it is that good an idea.

Doesn't every oven have slots to move the rack every couple inches or
so? A second rack from an appliance store is $30 or so- but I'll bet
a stop at a thrift store or used appliance store will turn one up for
$5-10. [bring the one in your oven with you- I'm sure they aren't
standardized] A lot more adjustable, easier to store, and *much* more
sturdy.

OTOH-- maybe some ovens don't have those adjustments?

My wall oven came with three racks. I can place 3 trays of cookies in
there but I must rotate them from rack to rack. My oven does have the
convection feature, but even so it is difficult to get all cookies
done correctly.

There isn't enough room between racks to do loaves of bread.

The only reason that I would want to get another oven with three racks
is because the sides of the oven provide more rack positions than a
2-rack oven.

The ovens with 3 racks are more expensive.

I have found the spacing possibilities to be helpful but then I bake
bread and place a stone in one position and a cast iron pan in
another. If the oven you have allows you to put the stone on the
floor of the oven, you might not need the extra rack position.

You'd call it a "fan" oven.

My GE Range came with a warming drawer. I just can't see myself wanting
to put anything down that close to the floor to keep warm so I just use
it as a storage drawer and hope no one turns it on by accident.

I don't use them -- don't need them. When I buy a new oven, I order extra
shelves. I usually have four in the oven, with one holding a permanent pizza
stone.

I have bakestones in both my ovens. They certainly hold the heat for
whatever you are cooking.

I'm sure you don't need a warming drawer to warm your undies.

No, I really wanted to know about these three tiered racks sold to put
in a regular oven.
The rack I saw takes up half the side of the oven. You place it on a
low-positioned regular oven rack.

By the way, I finally got smart and removed one of my oven racks. It
was always in the way and I never, but never, used two racks
simultaneously.

I am not interested in a convection oven.
