This chain is coming to our area this month.
Anyone been to one of these? Any good? Worth the price and wait? Inquiring minds want to know. |

We don't have In and Out here either. I've heard nothing but good things about In and Out. Pretty much the only fast food I'll ever eat is a hamburger and I'm fairly picky. I guess I'll report back after I've tried them. |

In many areas, including here, they've gone through a period where they wouldn't cook their burgers any less than medium. In most areas, that has lasted no more than a year or so, their business has dropped off precipitously, and they've gone back to making excellent burgers again. -- Larry |

Fudrucker's came and went a few miles away from where I live - I never ate there. Applebee's (which was closer) didn't last long either, but I did eat there once. It wasn't worth a return visit. -- Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get. |

There are four within my area (Balt-Annapolis, MD). We love them. Really
good burgers and fries. We've never waited a long time, unless during a lunch rush. "ImStillMags" > wrote in message ... > This chain is coming to our area this month. > > Anyone been to one of these? > > Any good? > > Worth the price and wait? > > Inquiring minds want to know. |

I've only eaten there once but it's very good. Greasy but good. I have one just a few miles from my house and I've been able to resist since they opened, about 2 years. When I ate at one it was lunch time at work, and that was probably 4 years ago. The french fries are amazing but they are in a paper bag and the bag ends up grease soaked. |

I didn't find them greasy. I happened to eat at Five Guys tonight since I was nearby and it was on the way home. I had a bacon burger with tomato and mayo. I asked Ron if he thought the burgers were greasy. The verdict, neither one of our burgers could be described as greasy, not by any stretch of the imagination. Don't get me wrong, I'm not actually opposed to greasy burgers. The only liquid that came out of my burger was water from the tomato slice. nancy |

But I don't think they're any more greasy than other fries, and that it's just the way they serve them that makes them look more greasy. |

I know, and I don't eat much fast food. But every now and then a big greasy burger just kinda hits the spot, ya know? |

Five Guys opened up a couple of stores in my area maybe a year or two ago. I like their burgers a lot. They offer a huge selection of different toppings and condiments to go with the burgers. Their fries are pretty good, but the smallest order is enough for an army so I don't order them. Their menu is very simple. Fries, hot dogs, burgers, various toppings. That's it. I would prefer them to offer something other than fries to go with the burgers such as maybe baked beans or a green salad, corn on the cob, etc. They also offer free peanuts to much on while your burger is cooking. |

I had a single bacon cheeseburger. It was DELICIOUS! I wasn't as impressed with the fries and I thought I would be considering the raves I hear about them. They just seemed a tad "raw" in the center with no crispness to them. They tasted okay, but not remarkable. But that burger...!!! |

The original, family-run location is about a half-mile from my house here in Alexandria, VA; ~six others within five miles. The rest are franchised nationwide. Burgers consist of two 1/4 lb. patties cooked on a griddle, well-done only, bearing about a quart of grease on them. Fries start out great, but become steamed and soggy as soon as they put them in the bag. Buns are OK, but grease-logged. The bag is soaked with grease as well. Hot dogs are 1/4 lb only, and undistinguished. If you liked the burgers in your high school cafeteria, you'll love these. If you like top-quality, crusty, rare to medium burgers, you'll hate these. I eat there once a year to remind myself how crappy the food is. -- Larry |

I've now heard both sides. I guess I'll have to try it at least once after they open. Sounds like it's better to eat in than take out so everything doesn't get soggy. |

There's one near where I work, but I've only been once. I don't usually eat lunch, especially go out for lunch. Anyway, I thought the burger was really good. I like that they have Coke and not the evil Pepsi. I like that they use peanut oil to fry their potatoes. I hope to get there again one of these days.
