Some folks are anti-fast food. There are several decent reasons to feel that way, but fast food varies from awful, to really good. The Angus burgers are much better than the typical McD's sandwiches. The only bad thing about the Angus burgers is that they only cook them well done. Yesterday, we went to this place: http://www.saucemagazine.com/citydiner/menu.html and I got the Big Daddy. I ordered it rare to get it somewhere between MR and med. Far better than an Angus, but w/o the convenience. Unfortunately, there's no Usenet forum for real discussions of fast food because that group has been taken over by Steve and his socks. > -ginny --Bryan |

I'd wonder what was really in the patty, although a big Mac in Hong Kong seemed pretty normal. I think a McDonald's burger would be OK in Vietnam, though given their great cuisine it's hard to imagine choosing that. Kent |

But there is plenty of melamine in Chuna. They love putting it in foodstuff > I'd wonder what was really in the patty, although a big Mac in Hong Kong > seemed pretty normal. > I think a McDonald's burger would be OK in Vietnam, though given their > great cuisine it's hard to imagine choosing that. Hi, I've just finished reading all of your posts and thought I'd throw in my
2 cents. I am currently working in China. I've been to Mcdonalds here many times as it reminds me a bit of home (GRIN). The food is not slopped together. It is put together as well or better than the American version. The workers are not slave labor. They are young Chinese working on their first jobs just like many of did when we were younger. The food is compatable with that served in America. Take that as you will. Think the writer is just trying to get a rise out of everyone by China bashing. President Obama was just here and got one of the most (for me at least) positive responses that I've seen given to any American President. China has it's problems and is attempting to work through them. But so did we. I lived in Chicago during the riots of the 60's. China looks like that now. I have agreed with most of the tales of fast food woes as I have had them also. Just a few thought from someone who actually has eaten in a Micky D's in China. After reading this: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/617560 I wouldn't rush to buy one either. Apparently they do this, "This is a burger that is cooked and then held in a steam tray." Still, $5.99 for a fast food quality, lean, overcooked, 1/2 pounder that comes with fries and a drink is not that bad of a deal. That's slightly cheaper than McD's 1/3#'s regular price, though I only order those when I have a BOGO coupon. --Bryan |

Several reasons: 1. The food 2. The review is from May. I haven't seen a sign of this here. 3. The review is from Ontario, and not the close one. -- Dan Abel Petaluma, California USA |
