Since you haven't explained why you'd post an article on an obscure
food recall case I'll assume that this is pure self promotion on your
part.

I would characterize it as an article on a common foodborne disease that
involved the recall of a product. I can't see any problem with a food
related topic being posted here. At least this is on-topic and provides
some useful information. I quite enjoy reading posts like this that don't
involve unnatural sex acts or name calling.

Since we grow our own tomatoes, organicly and use organic
pesticides,we never had a problem.

The source of most pathogens on produce is from the people who pick it.
While organic farming techniques are great, they don't eliminate the
contamination in the harvesting and packaging operations that bring the
produce to market.

Salmonella is a bacterial infection, not something that would come from
chemical pesticides and fertilizers. It is also rare on tomatoes, so
rare a short news article was written on the subject. Most tomatoes
will be salmonella free regardless of what sorts of pesticides and
fertilizers are used.

Good for you but that does not protect the rest of the world.
Organic does not mean pure or clean. If the tomato picker took a dump in the
field and used the organic leaves to wipe his ass you may end up with an
organic disorder.

I went and visited the website. It's non-commercial and seems to have useful
information on food sanitation. There are some downloadable posters and
other educational materials. Certainly worth knowing about one spends much
time in the kitchen.

That might be true, the less produce is handled by people, the
better.I was amazed by a recent poll on how few people wash their hands
after using the bathroom.

Well,in any case, most of our tomatoes are blanched in boiling water
for caning.Wife canned 70 qts.and 24 pts.last year.Yes,i helped her.The
tomatoes for eating are washed, those pesky deer might have 'watered'
them.Only gardeners know the fine flavor of a freshly picked tomato.
