Default LC REC - Chocolate Omelette

* Exported from MasterCook *

Chocolate Omelette

Recipe By :Sue Larkin (asdlc) doctored a little by Damsel
Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00
Categories : Breakfasts/Brunches Desserts

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
PAN PREPARATION:
1 tablespoon butter
CHOCOLATE OMELETTE:
2 large eggs
4 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa
2 tablespoons DaVinci sugar-free chocolate syrup
2 tablespoons cream
FILLING:
1 1/2 tablespoons whipped cream cheese
2 teaspoons DaVinci sugar-free syrup of choice

Mix thoroughly with a hand mixer. In an 8", buttered skillet, over
medium heat, let the mixture cook, undisturbed, until almost set then
remove it from the burner and cover the skillet. This causes the eggs
to expand much like a souffle, but not that high.

Now assemble the filling, and layer over the omelet. Fold in half and
serve.

4 net carbs per serving, without nuts (6 - 2)
6 net carbs per serving, including 2 tablespoons of nuts (10 - 4)

Cuisine:
"Low-Carb"

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Per Serving (excluding unknown items): 403 Calories; 35g Fat (78.0%
calories from fat); 16g Protein; 6g Carbohydrate; 2g Dietary Fiber;
500mg Cholesterol; 335mg Sodium. Exchanges: 2 Lean Meat; 5 1/2 Fat;
1/2 Other Carbohydrates.

Serving Ideas : You can make this with nuts, but without filling for a
very satisfying dessert brownie-like object.

NOTES :
Sue's original version called for a couple of sliced strawberries in
the filling. Fruit isn't part of my WOE, so I've altered the recipe
to meet my needs. Add carbs for fruit if prepared that way.

I used Splenda in the chocolate part most of the time. Sometimes, I
used a flavored syrup, but I've never purchased the chocolate stuff,
so I've never once actually followed the recipe as written. Heehee!

Favorite flavors for the cream cheese filling are raspberry and
orange. However, I've used a dozen different flavors over time.

This is a great breakfast or dessert. I want one.

ICK!!

There's not much I dislike and I'm usually not one to turn up my nose at a
new dish, but this just plain sounds revolting, much like whipped cream and
ketchup. Ugh!

You've been cranky all weekend. You okay?

The recipe author calls it a souffle. Does that make it any less
revolting?

How fun. :-) I'd probably add a little Splenda to it.

Thanks!!!

A custard is not an omelet. As for the souffle, I may be full of hot air,
but I don't eat foods that are.

Ya can't go wrong with vanilla. I'll try this, probably with
cream and sugar or Splenda added to the eggs.

Either that or he's not a dedicated low carber. <g>
I've had dessert Omelets before. Eggs and sweets actually go quite well
together.

Think "Custard".

Oh dear... not specifically.

It's just regular eggs in a pan and add canned or sliced fresh fruit.
Fold and serve and top with a bit of karo or sugar is all. It's been
awhile but they really are quite tasty.

Strawberries, peaches, blueberries etc.

A bit of vanilla extract in the whipped eggs to start does not hurt
either.

<snipped>

Considering eggs are included in a LOT of dessert recipes, eating a
sweetened version of scrambled eggs does not freak me out. ;-)

Think custards and crepes for a start!

It really is yummy. Kind of like an easy crepe'.
I need to do some with strawberries and Splenda too.

Cheers!
