Default Kitchen Redo

We just went through a kitchen redo and boy it isn't fun. When we moved into
our new house I loved the space of the kitchen but hated the kitchen itself.
It looked like this:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/yarn/2498370744/sizes/l/

We redid the whole thing and now the only thing left is a new refrig. We
thought that we could get one that went into the space that was there but we
couldn't get the one we wanted so we are going to have to rip out the
cabinets above the refrig (which we should have done while the cabinets were
being put it.

New kitchen now looks like this:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/yarn/2722689166/

and new built-ins that we had put in he

All I have to say is that Rich better not make me move again because I love
this kitchen more than any I have ever had AND I never want to have to go
through another kitchen remodel!!!!

Photos are not viewable unless you create an account. I think you
need to flag them as public.

I thought my kitchen remodel was lots of fun. We probably have
different ideas of fun. LOL.

I know all those pics on your fridge mean something, but my kitchen
look improved immeasurably, when I moved all the magnets to the side
of the fridge, above the countertop.

I didn't create an account, and I could see them just fine.

If you remove the "/sizes/l/" from the URL it works just fine...

gorgeous!

Yep. I know that my kitchen would look "improved" or more professional if I
took the pictures off, but I really didn't do the kitchen to look one way or
the other. We did it to cook in and enjoy ourselves. Those pictures are of
my family and friends that I left behind in California. I don't have the
heart to take them done because I look at them every day while cooking and
feel less homesick.

A lovely *roomy* kitchen. But it's essentially the same as your old
kitchen but with a facelift; new cabinets, appliances, and other
cosmetics. With so much space why did you skimp on the fridge
allocation?

We were stupid. We thought we would keep the refrig that was there. We
changed our mind so we are going to rip out the cabinets and get the french
door refrig. Not sure which one yet.

It was just a face lift and we made the island way bigger as well and had the
built ins built in :--)

I just wanted the new stove to tell you the truth!

When I had mine remodeled I was a little annoyed I let the
cabinet guy leave so much space for the refrigerator ... I was
keeping the old smaller one for the time being and it swam in
that opening.

My new refrigerator is shoehorned into that space, I'm glad he
was looking ahead for me.

I agree, it looks pretty nice. But down here in Arkansas we don't allow
roosters up on the kitchen counter!

A total build is even more fun!! Finished up two years ago and I
would do it again in a heartbeat.

Very nice. I suppose the reason I had no fun with it is because
we did it within the first month that we moved into this new house.
I was tired to start.

Because you have a cookie in your computer indicating that you

Hey, a cookin' with 2 is still a cookin'. Lots of fun and food.
If I could attend I would. Once I cooked in that kitchen, you might
not get rid of me. ;-)

I loved the colors of the other rooms too. And the fabulous knitting,
and yard pictures... and of course the dog!!!

They were disgusting. They were painted black and made to look "shabby
chic". They just looked shabby. I didn't even realize that they were
painted to look worn and chipped until someone came to visit and told me.

I love your kitchen, now that I have managed to see the full view
of it.

Re the cookout... Too people-y for me. I WAS just in your new
town (or is it a city?) scoping out a house and just added another
one to my list for contemplation.... Most of my prospects are off
in another direction though.

That's funny ... they sell them like that. I suppose if the house
was an old farmhouse someone might think that was an appropriate
finish.

Probably out Rte 2 somewhere. Littleton would be great if
something else crops up in my price range. Lancaster seems
doable. Also Pepperell looks interesting. Besides price, I have
two other major issues: 1) I want an antique house, and 2) my
daughter wants to be able to get back to our current western burb
quickly. The latter really complicates things.

BTW, I didn't realize Marlborough abutted Sudbury until I
navigated out there a few weeks ago. Speaking o' Sudbury, have
you discovered Fugakyu or Oishi? Of course, as a transplanted
west coastian (do I recall that correctly) you might find them
inferior.

Ah, we just left an antique house... lots of "projects".

Rich tried Fugakyu and said it was good. We haven't tried Oishi yet though.
I am dying for some good sushi!

Well, try both and see what you think. I have just been to
Fugakyu and like it so much that I haven't made it to Oishi.
Many, however, prefer Oishi.
