I think a white chocolate icing with a tinge of red food coloring would be
wonderful! I love all your suggestions. (Psssst - come on over, I may
need your help!) <g>

(you can get the pink sparkles too and use those sprinkled over the still
soft icing)
http://tinyurl.com/38vnz7

In two weekends I am making a football field cake. My brother and I have
birthdays 5 days apart, and my two nieces (a band geek and a cheerleader,
twins go figure) graduated and are getting ready to go away to college. So
we decided to combine them all and have a Pep Rally themed party with a
football cake, brats, nachos, french dipped sandwiches, Wii football on the
big screen so the big kids have something to play.

I love this kind of thing, and having a decorating partner makes everything
easier. I'll be there in spirit. Oh and I found tiny football players, a
couple of marching band members, and a few cheerleaders for the top of the
cake I'm making. Can't wait to see how it comes out. I always make something
different for the kids for birthdays, too cause I am not paying what a
bakery charges, and I think it's fun.

Good Luck

Sounds like you're going to have a great time! I'll be expecting your
spirit here on August 22. :~) Thanks again for your suggestions.

Maybe watching a couple of how to videos will help too
http://video.about.com/baking/How-to-Frost-a-Cake.htm# You'll need to
enable the IE tab if you're using Firefox. If you poke around there
is a video on how to "fill" a cake... you might want to do a raspberry
filling, for instance.

Baking with a cake mix -
http://baking.about.com/od/hintsandt...emixbaking.htm

Make icing -
http://baking.about.com/od/frostings...andeasyfru.htm

BTW: fresh flowers are lovely on a cake, what's growing in your yard?

Just for fun and maybe a gift someday:

Once you see the garbage at the end of the links, you may feel
differently.
You'd just likely be too nice to say so.

This pig puts sodapop in cakes. What a piece of trash.

Great. A recipe from the fat, White-trash pig, Carroll
Pellegrinelli. Guess what? It has whipped topping.
