We always put a pile of oreos on a plate with three glasses of milk (one from
each of us, a "Who's Santa's favorite?" thing). Mom always put out a plate with cheese and crackers and a glass of wine next to our plate. "Let's just see who's been good!" she'd say. Christmas morning we'd wake each other up and tip toe down the hall. We were always delighted that Santa only took a small bite out of a cheese and cracker and no wine but finished all the oreos and milk, leaving three Hershey kisses on our plate and a red M&M on Mom's plate!!! We knew right then, we'd been good! But we had to contain our joy because if we woke up Mom and Pop, they'd threatened to give our presents to the kids next door. It was torture!!! Played us like a fiddle, they did! ![]() What are you giving Santa? Andy |

Santa may have refilled the glass after emptying it. Because he's driving, Santa doesn't get the beer he'd likely appreciate. Oh well, it wouldn't hold well anyway. Other than that...A selection of the homeade Christmas cookies. And a Carrot for the reindeer. Greg Zywicki |

Dad says he appreciates the real stuff after being bombarded with milk and cookies, some which came from a box bought after last Christmas. He seems to appreciate it, as the kids really haven't complained much about what they get. -ginny |

Since I haven't believed in Santa since I was about 4 years old... nothing. Set out nothing, unless you plan to eat it yourself which is what the parents do. I'm not a parent (nor do I ever want to be one). My choice would be a nice warm herbed brie with chunks of toasted french bread to dip in it, sort of fondue-ish but not quite. YUM! And no Santa no, Santa food. Sorry!. I do enjoy some old holiday films, however. 'Holiday Inn' (1942) with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire is a great one! I recently got 'The Bishops Wife' with Cary Grant, David Niven and Loretta Young. I don't celebrate the holidays but they do make for some good old movies ![]() Jill |

We would never have left anything but homemade cookies when I was leaving cookies for Santa. It's a wonder if you ever got any presents from him. ;-) Kate > What are you giving Santa? Andy mentioned his Tradition and then inquired:
==> Bribe or Gift? It's a Tradition! <== > What are you giving Santa? Santa is given five of the best cookies from the batch all three daughter-units make for friends and family: a peanut butter cookie with a chocolate kiss atop, a gingerbread man, a lemon drop, a lemon bar, and a molasses cookie with candied fruit chunks (the name escapes me but I think it's German). Daughter-unit Alpha also used to set out a glass of whole milk but I convinced her that Santa would be more jolly if they allowed me to pour him a dram of single malt or a moderate pour of vintage port to fully enjoy their baking endeavors. Spawn was the first to notice the joy Santa showed was returned ten-fold... The "I don't have any SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED gifts this year!" Ranger |
