I saw this from Betty Crocker, pretty standard but tasty side dish or main
dish depending on time of day eaten. :-) 2 tablespoons butter 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 large onion, chopped (1 cup) 1 head cauliflower, separated into florets 1 teaspoon salt 2 cups milk 4 eggs 5 slices bacon, chopped, crisply cooked 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives 3/4 cup shredded pizza cheese blend 1 Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 3-quart casserole with cooking spray. 2 In large skillet, heat butter and oil over medium heat. Add onion; cook 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft. Add cauliflower and 1/2 teaspoon of the salt. Cook 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cauliflower begins to brown. Spoon mixture into casserole. 3 In medium bowl, beat milk, eggs and remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt with whisk. Stir in bacon and chives. Reserve 2 tablespoons of the cheese; stir remaining cheese into egg mixture. Pour evenly over cauliflower mixture. Sprinkle with reserved 2 tablespoons cheese. 4 Bake uncovered 35 to 45 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. |

Looks yummy, but then anything with cheese and bacon is yummy to me.
Heck anything with cauliflower is, too, although I just can't get into mashed cauliflower as a sub for potatoes. I'd rather have the cauliflower undisguised. They said if I stayed they still wouldn't be able to do the surgery for a couple of days...so I chose to take the meds home(they had already given me a Dilaudid and morphine in the vein) So felt good enough to go home...bad idea, the first day I was ok slept allot because of the drugs, the next day I took Dilaudid and vicodin...two hours apart from each other, the next day another flare-up happened , it lasted all night then finally eased a bit...still had side pain but no more tummy and chest pain, lots of nausea...no vomiting TG. Finally got an appointment with a surgeon. Today I feel good, had some chicken noodle soup....I have barely eaten anything the last week and a half...a piece of toast daily...maybe a couple tablespoons of cereal an egg. I was scared to eat anything with fat. My appointment is Monday hopefully we can get a date for the surgery soon...don't want anymore of these kind of flare-ups. When I was in emergency they took my BG, it was 155...she said that was good...I told her for me it was not. I hadn't eaten that day and I told her I like my numbers below 110. She looked at me like I was nuts. I think it was elevated because of pain and my liver may have dumped. I also went off of my metformin because of the nausea I was having. My numbers are still good. |

My dad who has had his gallbladder out, says the worst foods for him are animal fats. Like eggs, meat, cheese... |

Two of my friends have had their gallbladders out, and fats don't bother them at all, but did before they were removed. It's an individiual thing there too. Cheri |

A friend of mine had problems with fat for up to a year after hers was removed. Literally fatty foods went straight through her. Half an hour after her favourite KFC and she was on the toilet. I remember my daughter's partner had to take some kind of enzyme tablet after he was stabbed in the pancreas and acquired type 1 diabetes. Same deal, he would be sick after meals (not necessarily fatty) if he didn't take them. Over time her stopped using the tablets and has no problems. I think if one suffers symptoms with foods after certain organs are damaged or removed then the body adapts to the new condition eventually. |

He gets sick if he doesn't. And he also gets sick if he has liquor which he didn't before all these problems began. |
