Default cookware for radiant range

Hi,

I just puchased 2 cook ware from Macy's for our new radiant top range.
Both of them have flat bottom. But both of them are very heavy(maybe
over 5 pounds each ). One is made of titanium, another is made of
stainless steel.

One of my friend said heavy pots are not good for radiant top range
since radiant top is made of glass, it is easy to break. Is the radiant
top very fragile? Do I need to put a heavy pot on the surface of the
range very gently with special attention?

Could anyone also tell me what could possibly make the surface break?
Thanks.

Dropping a big cast iron pot or skillet on a ceramic top will break it. I
wouldn't worry about your stainless cookware.

Keep the pots and get right of the range. IMO, the right cookware is more
important that some fancy top. What does the book say about weight limits?
What happens if you fill a large stock pot or pasta pot?

I weigh the pots, one is 4.5 pounds, the other is 6 pounds.
