Barbecue (alt.food.barbecue) Discuss barbecue and grilling--southern style "low and slow" smoking of ribs, shoulders and briskets, as well as direct heat grilling of everything from burgers to salmon to vegetables.

Default Sam's Choice Charcoal?

Has anyone tried Sam's Choice Charcoal? It's $5.27 for 18lb. That's $.29/lb,
regular price.

Larger briquettes, same smell, heat and ash as original Kingsford
Probably contains the same anthracite coal and the Borax mold-release agents

It's terrific, it's wonderful, it's the bees-knees. It's horrible, it's
disgusting, it's the seat from satan's nut-sack. It's mediocre, it's
adequate, it's nothing special.

I use it in my WSM with good results. Seems easier to keep going than Royal
Oak.
