For those who don't want a tomato-based sauce.
Honey Bacon Barbecue Sauce Yield: 3 1/2 cups 1/2 pound bacon, chopped 1 medium onion, diced 1 garlic clove, minced 1 can (14 1/2 ounces ready-to-use chicken broth 1 bottle (12 ounces) chili sauce 1 cup honey 2 tablespoons lemon juice 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon black pepper In a large pot, cook the bacon for 5 to 6 minutes over medium-high heat, or until lightly browned, stirring occasionally. Add the onion and garlic and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the onion is tender, stirring constantly. Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened, stirring occasionally. Serve warm. NOTE: This works great served over meat or poultry. -- -frohe Life is too short to be in a hurry |
