I assume that everyone adds the bentonite at the initial stages of primary
fermentation, correct? |

No,
I believe however that it is common practice in most kits in order to speed things along. John Dixon "Pleasantly Surprized" > wrote in message ... > I assume that everyone adds the bentonite at the initial stages of primary > fermentation, correct? > > |

I have a Brew King kit in progress. I added the bentonite at the beginning
as the instructions said. If I had other instructions, maybe I would consider leaving it for the end. I don't know if it is better or not. "Pleasantly Surprized" > wrote in message ... > I assume that everyone adds the bentonite at the initial stages of primary > fermentation, correct? > > |

From what I've read on this site, you should follow the directions which
come with the wine kit. For those of us who make fruit wines, I don't add bentonite unless the wine has not cleared which could be six months from the end of the primary ferment. I've only used bentonite once, this past month with a 7 month old dandelion wine which wouldn't clear. Darlene "Willie" > wrote in message .. . > I have a Brew King kit in progress. I have had kits that advise bentonite at the beginning, but some advise adding
it after secondary fermentation. have a Brew King kit in progress. I added the bentonite at the beginning >as the instructions said. If I had other instructions, maybe I would >consider leaving it for the end. I don't know if it is better or not. > |

Kits do it that way. If making wine from scratch I never add it unless I
need it and I do not know that until the wine is made. Ray "Pleasantly Surprized" > wrote in message ... > I assume that everyone adds the bentonite at the initial stages of primary > fermentation, correct? > > |
