Quick Question

I assume that everyone adds the bentonite at the initial stages of primary
fermentation, correct?

Quick Question

No,

I believe however that it is common practice in most kits in order to
speed things along.

Quick Question

I have a Brew King kit in progress. I added the bentonite at the beginning
as the instructions said. If I had other instructions, maybe I would
consider leaving it for the end. I don't know if it is better or not.

Quick Question

From what I've read on this site, you should follow the directions which
come with the wine kit. For those of us who make fruit wines, I don't add
bentonite unless the wine has not cleared which could be six months from the
end of the primary ferment. I've only used bentonite once, this past month
with a 7 month old dandelion wine which wouldn't clear.

Quick Question

Kits do it that way. If making wine from scratch I never add it unless I
need it and I do not know that until the wine is made.

Quick Question

I have had kits that advise bentonite at the beginning, but some advise adding
it after secondary fermentation.
