Leftovers (lobster salad, corn, and green salad) with the 2014 Bzikot Bourgogne Blanc. Good acids, apple and citrus fruit, no apparent oak, clean if a little simple. B/B-

Saturday was the gathering of the guys whose wives were out of town, but we added one guy whose wife was in town, so she came too. As they arrived we munched on a couple of leftover pates, and drank the NV Tissot €śIndigene€ť Cremant de Jura. Yeasty, a little funky/earth, some what saline, with dry pit fruits. B+

My main goal was to use stove as little as possible, luckily soba cooks quickly, and I steamed lobsters at office during day Whites with soba/lobster/scallop salad:

2015 Ildewild €śThe Bee Flora and Fauna€ť
Italian varieties. Quite floral, a little musky, vitrus and melon. Good acids, good length, fun wine. B+

2006 Newton €śUnfiltered€ť Chardonnay
Oaky, getting a little hot, some liked. C+

2015 Keller Riesling Trocken
Great acids, perky, tropical and citrus fruit with a little ginger. B++

I ventured out into the swamp air for some quick grilling. Main was sirloin marinated in fish sauce and garlic, squash with zaatar, and a green salad Anne and Al brought.

1979 Ch. Leoville-Barton
Blackcurrant fruit still hanging in there, backbone more acidic than tannic, but theres a muddy/dull edge to the finish. With air theres a bit of a not-so-pleasant bretty note. Others liked more. C+/B-

2014 Edmunds St. John €śRocks and Gravel€ť
This is more overtly spicy than the 2013, bright raspberry and cherry fruit dashed with pepper, herbs, and anise. Really delicious, and quickly drained. I was a little surprised to see if had equal parts Grenache & Mourvedre (43% each), I would have thought less Mourvedre. B+/A-

2013 Mulderbosch €śFaithful Hound€ť
We toasted my faithful hound with this.while she sat waiting for steak. Sweet cassis, vanilla. A little sweeter and simpler than some previous vintages, but it does have some tannic structure. B-

Sunday night I had grilled chicken, beet greens, green pepper/tomato salad, corn. Wine was the 2015 Edmunds St John Bone Jolly Rose. Lots of presence here, full strawberry fruit, herbs, spice. Good and very food friendly rose.. B++

No wine on Meatless Monday (pasta with pesto, okra, cabbage, squashj)

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
