As an apertif, the 2009 Pepiere Muscadet was asking for food, but
resigned itself to being tasty on its own. Lemon, a little nectarine, a mineral edge that reminds one of seashells. Midbodied, very nice. B/B + With ribeyes, baked potatoes, and salad, the 1999 Drouhin Gevrey- Chambertin. A little cellar time has been very good to this village wine. Red and black cherry, earth, a hint of mushroom. Good acids, still a bit of tannin, with air more floral notes emerge. Balanced, ready, great for level B++ Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.* |
