Default feeding my starter

I've Been maintaining my starter for about a year now.

I've been feeding the starter 3 times a day, starting with 100 gr
starter feeding it 50 gr flour and 50 gr water fermenting for 8 hours
and then feeding it again with 100 gr flour and 100 gr water etc...
however i read alot about sourdough and I saw that alot of starters
get fed once every 24 hours starting with a very small amnout of
starter (about 1 Tsp = 30gr) feeding it with 200 gr flour and 200 gr
water. what exactly is the diffrence between those two methods of
feeding?
