Default Bread Pudding

Recipe in family for 50 years

Bread Pudding - Grace

4 cups dry bread cubes
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup raisins
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups scalded milk
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
2 beaten eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup brown or white sugar

Combine bread cubes and rains in buttered 1 1/2 quart casserole. Add milk
to eggs, sugar, salt, spices and vanilla. Beat with rotary beater. Pour
over bread and raisins. Bake in 350 degree oven for one hour. Serve warm
with lemon sauce. To make sauce, mix 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon corn
starch, and a dash of salt. Add 1 cup of hot water, cook and stir until
thickened. Add 1 tablespoon grated lemon rid, 3 tablespoon lemon juice and
1 tablespoon butter.
